Early picking, or let it go??
    #18797781 - 09/04/13 02:23 AM (10 years, 4 months ago)

So i have a bag or two, about 4 days into fruiting.
I'm leaving for vacation for 10 days tomorrow. Timing wasn't with me on this one...
Would you: harvest early, and not have time to dry anything, effectively wasting this flush?

Or would you just let it go, and harvest after the 10 days, prob. sporing everywhere??
And just pray that the spores won't kill the 2nd flush?

What would you guys do?

If you knew you were leaving, you should have put them in the fridge before pinning.  If you leave those go at that stage for 10 days you're going to come back to rotten mushrooms, not just spores.

Too early to harvest.  10 days will have a mess behind.  Personally you might be best off to throw it away now while the mess does not have rotting fruits etc.

How would throwing it away be a better option than just clipping all of the mini-fruits, and having a real 2nd flush when I get back??

And is it a sure thing that in 11 days they will be ROTTEN?

And not just slightly overdone, and sporing upside down umbrella shaped caps?? I've been out of practice, I forgot how long these things take to mature, and I used to harvest before the veils broke.

Got a friend you can trust to look after them for you?

I would stick it in the fridge and hope for the best. Worst case scenario, they abort and you harvest anyway. Best case, they recover and continue growing.

I'm not sure if it will work, but that seems like a viable option to me.

Leave them and pray to whatever deity you believe in that they're ok when you get back

I was hoping for this.... the safe play would be to just pick whatever is going right now, but I'd be missing out on a big yield..
I'm gonna wait, and pray, I think!!
