help with chanterelle Id

I am fairly new to mushroom hunting, I live on the west coast of Vancouver Island. I found these outside my normal chanterelle spots. They seem to have all the characteristics of what i believe are chanterelles but they definitely are different from what I have seen before. These mushrooms are much more robust looking and the cap is tightly curled under. I also found a group of three fused together and wasn't sure if chanterelles can grow like this.
Habitat: transition forest where spruce and cedar are meeting up with alder amongst heavy selal. The were growing in a fairly tight area and were crowding one another
Gills: looks like false gills that are forked at the edge of the cap
Cap: tightly curled under
Other information: everything seems to fall under golden chanterelle (fruity scent, false gills, orange color. . .) but I think they are less common examples of what is mostly found out here.
Any info on these mushrooms would be awesome. Thanks.

And the "gills" look odd to me - like two layers??? Convoluted underneath and straight on the outside.
Hm...Fuku? Jes' to get all crazy tinfoilhat on ya.

Those are chanterelles. I'd be curious to see what you consider the more common type. There are few different species of golden chanterelle, but I don't bother to separate them out myself.

Those are so chanterelles. I don't separate them either. Except for ingredient cooking times.
butter first, mushrooms second.

wow, that was quick. thanks for the conformation. I am still new at this so whenever something looks a little off I start asking questions. . .
I was pretty sure they were chanterelles but I just wanted to make sure. Most of the chanterelles I see are a little less dense and the cap is not as finely formed. Also someone once told me that chanterelles do not grow fused together.
I am still yet to have a positive ID on chroogomphus tomentosus and hygrophoropsis aurantiaca, or anyother chanterelle look-a likes for that matter, so I am cautious.
thanks again.

In my experience they don't often. But occasionally you do find a few. Check out this fused cluster I found a couple years ago for example!

chroogomphus tomentosus is a look alike in the PNW but is easy to see the diffence once you have one to compare to real chanterelles... Color is not right.. C.tomentosus also Has dark spores
If you rip a chanterelle in half, the inside looks a little like cooked chicken meat... Chanterelles pretty much retain their color when cooking but chroogomphus tomentosus blackens... It's not poisonous by thw way but not appetizing either...
hygrophoropsis aurantiaca really has gills not ridges... If you compare pictures of it to a nice chanterelle you can see the marked difference in how the gills are...
You have chanterelles there... Enjoy!

I find them fused together every time I go hunting.

Thanks again. I have seen a couple slightly fused but never as obvious as this one. . .
HarryL--thanks for the input. I have read a lot of what you are saying but still waiting to have a couple look a likes in my hand and have someone who know what they are talking about show me. There seems to be such a large range of chanterelle color size and shape--I have seen photos where jack o laterns look like the fused example I have. . .could someone clear something up for me: Do jack o lanterns grow on wood. In other words if i look hard enough will i notice that they are connected to wood rather than growing out of soil?
I am going to head out this weekend and see if I can ID some of what I think are look a likes. Ill post some pics if I get some good ones.

ok, went hiking and picking today in the normal second growth, west coast forest I usually look in and ended up with about 12lbs of chanterelles--Good day!
I was looking for some look-a-likes but didnt really see any. However i did come across something that I have seen before and wondered about:
sometime I find golden chanterelles with hallow stems but I have read that the stems should be solid. Is there exceptions to this? I attached a picture of what i believe would be a chanterell with a hallow stem--is this true?
