Agar is wet enough to rehydrate it then move the myc away from the contams.

You may also try the cardboard cloning tek. Do a search for it. Depending on the age of the sample it may take up to 2-3 weeks before you see any growth. RR says you can dip the dry tissue in 1-10 bleach water solution to help with contams. Never tried it myself but most anything RR says is gospel.

RogerRabbit said: Bleach will not kill mycelium, especially mold mycelium in any quantity you're likely to use. It's common to dip wild mushroom specimens we're cloning into a ten percent bleach solution to kill bacteria prior to placing on petri dishes. That's ten percent laundry bleach to 90% water. It kills mold spores and bacteria but not live mold, or healthy mushroom mycelium.
Sterile procedure is the way to control molds in mushroom growing, not chemicals. Bleach is caustic and sweet, causing the pH to be way higher than mushroom mycelium prefers. Growing mycelium in it would slow down everything, making it more susceptible to contamination, not less. RR
use your bleach in moderation. try both ways and make lots of dishes

I have read that Bod but he also mentioned that with dry tissue this does not seem to be the case seeing that you are trying to revive a dry culture and not damaging a live one. I believe it is in his cultivation notes but far be it from me to argue with the gospel.

Ok guys, thanks for the info, ill try out a few agar petri dishes and let you all know how it turns out. I guess until i get paid ill just have to do as much research on the agar cultures to hopefully propagate some healthy mycelium.
