Habitat: In the woods, at the base of a sugar maple. They were in clusters. There had to be at least 75-100 of them.
Gills: Descending, like a chanterelle.
Stem: long, with black looking bruising towards the stem.
Cap: yellow/golden
Other information: Smell like a normal mushroom. They really look like a type of chanterelle to me. If you have any other questions that would help you lead to the identification of these, please ask. They are a bit past their prime. Thanks!!

Just make sure you thoroughly cook them. Look for some recipes online.
Like some edibles they can make you ill if they are under cooked.

I found some Laetiporus sulphureus (chicken of the woods) earlier this year and made a pretty good soup out of them. I obviously cooked them quite well before pureeing them and putting them into the soup, but that is what I would like to do with these. I will check it out though, thanks again!

And maybe just try a bite or two prelim... Make sure you don't have a problem with this species... Wait 12-24 before the full chow.
