Fully colonized WBS and coir with little poo. NOW WHAT
    #18795251 - 09/03/13 04:46 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

I have tried this before with terrible results.
But this time with a few tips around here and a lot more sterile I have 3 fully colonized trays but I don't know what to do next?

I have a small MARTHA sort of thing with a cool mist.

But what now?
Do I case the tray?
Do I remove the cake from the tray?
Do I leave it in?
Do I soak it like you do with BRF cakes? (the only thing I have done so far)

Please just point me to a TEK that can point me in the right direction.

Sorry for the confusion.

You may case if you wish but do not have to and will have similar results. It looks fine the way it is.

Remove cake from tray? did you just put a cake in your sub? Whatever you did it looks like it worked and there is no need to remove anything.

Your sub should have all the moisture it needs for the first flush so unless it is exceptionally dry you do not need to soak/dunk.

If they are in individual trays then a shotgun fruiting chamber would be good. Read up on monotubs and search for Frank Horrigan's How I Get Stuff Done series.

Basically introduce those bad boys to fruiting conditions.

I mean they are really beautiful. Wonderful smell of just mushrooms and look of very dense mycelium. I'm so scared of fucking things up now.

So my take here is:
No casing.
No soaking. (Was a little wet anyway)
Put on racks in my make shift Martha
12 on 12 off light.

And just wait.

Also on a side note, how do you guys monitor humidity?
I have an old reptile cage hygrometer. Does that work? Anything I should look for?
With casing and brf cakes I could see they looked dry. But how do I tell with this?
Do I need to mist?

I guess I am just looking for a little encouragement.

I will post my progress.

Thank you all!
