Hey i don't know if this is a stupid question to ask,but im asking it anyway. I'm planning to have my first ever mushroom trip in a week, i never had a previous psychedelic experience.I have been reading far too many trip reports, about ego death, psychedelic and spiritual relation and everything. I even read some books like Tibetan book of death,Terence Mckenna - food of the gods etc. Not that these are in anyway comparable to an experience but i was wondering if the things i read will affect my first trip in anyway(good/bad)??.

The more information you have the better, but the less expectations you have the better as well. It's good to be informed and know the 'components' of the experience, but don't expect anything. Just let whatever happens, happen naturally, and you will have an enjoyable time. Happy travels my friend!
ps -- Food of the Gods is great. It's such a shame McKenna is no longer with us here. I'm sure he's resting peacefully in hyperspace though

Perfect advice.
I was quite happy I didn't know what to expect on my first trip. In all honesty, you will never know what to expect. This is the strongest argument to have no expectations and just let it take you wherever it wants to go. Let go and you will have a great experience.
I wish you good times!!

It seems people are more likely to write up bad trip reports. Maybe to get their thoughts out. I wouldn't read too many bad/difficult trip reports especially right before your trip. If you're worried about a bad experience going in it will probably end up being a bad experience.

It doesn't hurt to read first hand experiences with the substance... to be truthfull however, it's worth next to nothing when you're experiencing it for yourself.
Setting, attitude and people you are with are what you should be concerned about, those are about the only things you'll be able to control.
If you're curious about doing it, and think it will be a good thing, it will. Expectations are half the battle.

Id make sure your in a nice clean environment, free of stress and note the time you took your dose. Something i didn't do on my first trip and thought i was going to be geeked out of my mind for the next 24 hours , also dont forget to have some fun and keep the positive thoughts rolling.

Reading is not the same as understanding.
I too have read the Tibetan Book Of Death but I'll gladly tell you I didn't understand most of it. In case of McKenna, he has some great stories about his DMT trips but they were always entirely different for me and I never got to see those famed Machine Elves...
Thing is, there is no definite psychedelic experience. You will find correlations between trips and substances, but your own life will always shape your trips into something unique.
That being said, reading up is a great idea and I would especially recommend you to read about safety and right dosing. You know, start small with every new substance, meditate on what you want to achieve in your trip, make a nice setting, turn off your phone and other distractions, ...
Ego death, spiritual revelation and all that will come inevitably, but personally, I don't think you should desire it, just go with the flow and have a good, meaningful trip!
Enjoy hyperspace!

First.... Understand that for every bad trip, there are 1000 good trips. There is a strong bias for people to write about bad experiences. Also, people lie and exaggerate for reasons of their own.. Don't believe everything you read
Second... Each individual experiences mushrooms differently. All any trip report tells you in that persons experience, has no relation to your experience. My strong advice, have no expectations of your first experience... It will be what it will be... And it will be your own.
Lastly, humans have been taking mushrooms for thousands of years. They are safe and can be a great experience. Trust the mushrooms.... Don't fight them... Have to just accept what comes.
Good luck and good vibes

It's good that you're researching all about shrooms before you do it, but try not to read too much into the bad trip reports. You don't want to end up psyching yourself out. Just remember that you just took a drug and go wherever it takes you. Good luck.
