    #18792663 - 09/02/13 11:24 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

I hope my format doesnt bother people. i think its pretty useful, especially if i plan to get ID's as often as i get specimens!!

My novice guess is agaricus. My second guess is amanita.

thanks, friends!

Your presentation is awesome.  ;-)

Yeh, I agree, agaricus, but I know nothing.  How large are the caps?  I found some augustus that were 'bout 10" not so long ago on the coast in a kinda vacant lot that's turned a bit meadowy.  Tasty.  Particularly if you get to 'em before the maggots.

Oh, and agaricus are s'posed to smell a bit almondy...???

If they smelled bad (like chemicals/glue/phenol) they are probably toxic. If they smelled good (like store bought mushrooms or like almonds) they are probably edible.

yeah i can say that it doesnt smell like store purchased mushrooms. they definitely smell closer to chemicals than mushrooms. Maybe kinda 'spicy' smelling... either way, not like store bought mushrooms, so i'll assume death or bad restroom experience.

Thanks for all the replies. and comments on presentation!

You have Agaricus xanthodermus due to the thick felty ring and strong hi-liter yellow staining when you cut it.
