I know it's been asked, but is it ok to reuse grain from previous jars?

Two were contaminated with trich, I figured it's best to just throw those out. The rest had little to no growth, and what did grow *looked* like mycilium, but I can't be positive of course since I never used them to spawn.
Most just didn't show signs of growth, I suspect due to under hydration more than anything (which, along with lack of funds, is why I want to reuse them). Likewise though they could have been bacterial contaminations which I couldn't see, but they were probably just dry. The spawn was my first time using millet and being so small it was hard to judge the moisture content of them. I have PC'd them all to kill any contaminants, and was planning to mix them in with a batch of birdseed for the next jars (other than the 2 trich ones at least). Is that going to be fine or should I just toss em?

under hydration? how did you do that? bacterial contamination smells like hell, i could always smell that something was wrong with jars without opening them.
IMO you can use grains as long as they arent contaminated. mixing them with wbs is good idea, much better ofc than using only millet again. i once PCed a jar 3 times and at the end rye was much darker than in other jars. colonization time didnt differ much from other jars (but it was a MS so who knows).

I'd say toss em, I tried this with one jar once and the new mycelium had a hell of a time getting started, I suspect the dead trich left behind some nasty chemical toxic to fungi.

Tossing em it is, no need to waste time and risk a failed grow.
