Just wondering if this will work.

I had a quart jar of colonized rye grain left over and thought I would experiment a little.
I took a small pretzel tub, drilled 1/4 inch holes all around it and filledit about half way with perlite.
Then I buried the quart jar in the perlite, took the lid off and cased the jar with a thin layer of vermiculite. I plan to fan and mist regularly.
Sorry if this may seem noobish or has already been done but I'm really curious to see what people think. Thanks and any feedback is more than welcome!

Sounds cool.
Hope it flushes good for you.
Nothing wrong with a little experimentation every now and then....

So is the jar buried right to the top? Seems like a great way to get plenty of RH near the cake surface. I'd be a little concerned about side pinning, but other than that it should work quite well. You should take photos and document it so you can do a write up if it goes splendidly

Thanks for your input llama police. The perlite buries the jar all but about an inch... Think I'll still be ok?
And yeah totally I'll take pics if it works out. Just curious, it it considered bad etiquette to bump your own thread with pics if its been a few weeks since the last post or should I just start a new thread?
Thanks again!

You can always update your initial thread and update the title, complete with the date you did it.
1 inch should be fine. The closer you get the surface to the perlite though, the higher the RH is going to be. I doubt 1 inch is going to make a difference though.
