borderline comical mistake flowhood/work room
    #18790205 - 09/02/13 02:33 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

So I made a 2'x 2'flow hood and planned on putting it into my walk in closet. I planned on lining the walls and setting up shop. However the door to the closet is about 3 inches too small to fit the flow hood.

So I'm wondering what people recommend for a space to work in.

Choice 1 - My rather large bedroom with wood floors and more then enough space to work in. 105 sq/ft maybe.

Choice 2 - my bathroom. Its a full bath of average size not a master bath by any means maybe 11' x 5'.

Choice 3 - take apart flowhood which means undoing a fuck ton of caulk, really not an option I'm thinking but let me know what you think.

Is the closet big enough but the door impeding the way?

Take the door off the hinges and try again.

If I wanted it in the closet, I would get it there.  Remove the door, and put a wider one back in its place so you can remove it in the future....Or like you said, take it elsewhere.

Its the frame! Not the door. 3 inches man, like I feel you on the I would if I wanted to do it but bro, come on I mean that's like 25 screws and a whole lot of thick ass silicone. Or taking some chunks out my frame.

I mean I'm not totally opposed to that but I'm not that handy I think.

I wish we had a pic of your face when you realized the dilemma....
but that does suck, sorry bro

If you are giving up stealth and peace of mind for an extra hour of work, you might regret it.  I like to pull the bandage off quickly and be done with it... only you know your conditions though.

good luck man

Oh now that's an idea mushie man! Well actually that would disrupt the flow since the doorway is smaller then the filter it self. Only by 3/4" each side but still.

My friend and I made it through the first threshold in the house and it fit through perfectly. He then joked, what if it was too big to fit. Next thing you know. I was pissed for a second but then I was like I have a flow hood now how hard could it be to achieve 95% no contam.

Thank you all for your help!

Just make sure not to get overconfident with your sterile procedure just because you're using a flowhood.

Many cultivators here easily achieve above 95% success without flowhoods. It's all about meticulous sterile technique.

Awesome input. Ya I just moved into this house and haven't done any sterile work yet. So this was a big wrench.

Any opinion on my Location problem?

Honestly I'd do whichever is more comfortable for you. If your bedroom is tidy and you have a sanitary area of it to work in, then I don't see why that would be an issue. Same goes for the bathroom.

I do my sterile work at my dining room table in a SAB. There are wood floors, but there's a rug under the table. Definitely not the prime location, but it's what I have to work with and I'm of the opinion that if your procedure is solid, your work will succeed 99% of the time.

Man, I dunno, OP.  If it were me I would rip the shit out and start over.  Do it right the first time.  Everyone seems to have enough time to do it right the third or fourth time out, but it takes a real grower to decide that the future will only work with a completely well-engineered program.

tl;dr - rip it out and start again.
