How to Tell If Bag Is Ready?

I injected two mycobags from a shroomery sponsor a while back. I thought they were dead but they are colonizing now. Problem is that I can't really see in the bag because there is substrate blocking my view, and if I knock it around I might break the cake. How do I know when to expose the cake to light? Would it be better to fruit in bag since I can't see it or should I risk it, open the bag, and put it in my shotgun?

It should be exposed to ambient/indirect light from day 1.
I assume you mean when do you know when to fruit it, which in that case is when the mycellium has colonized 100% of the substrate.
If we are talking about BRF cakes, then you wait a week past full colonization before fruiting.
Fruiting is providing constant FAE.
Jars/bags/tubs/trays should colonize @ room temperature getting ambient/indirect light.
Main pinning triggers are full colonization, FAE and Evaporation off of the substrate.
Light is a secondary pinning trigger. For tropical species temperature is not a pinning factor.
P. Cubensis are a tropical species. You could colonize at 70F and fruit at 80F with great results.
Light has been proven beneficial during all stages of mycellium growth. Mushrooms like mammals have a circadian rhythm.
You want ambient/indirect light(on a 12/12 schedule preferably) for colonization and consolidation.
You want direct/intense 6500K light on a 12/12 schedule for fruiting.
Optimal temps are mid 70s throughout the whole grow, but anywhere from 65F-80F is acceptable.
Incubation is outdated/uneeded unless temps in the range stated above cannot be kept.
The inside of the jar is always a few degrees warmer than the outside because the mycellium produces heat..mycellium tends to stall at temps above 86F , and contams thrive.
Fruiting at cooler temps tends to produce denser, meatier fruits, while fruiting at higher temps will often produce hollow, less dense stems.

Fruiting in the bag is never the best option.
Put it in a properly built SGFC once fully colonized for best results.

If I put the mycobag cake into the SGFC should I coat it with verm? I DO NOT want to dunk it, and risk it. Or should I just place it as is?

If it's BRF in the bag, I would dunk and roll it....
Dunking a fully colonized substrate poses no risks, except for proper hydration.

I have a question that fits here so i hope the OP doesn't mind. I have two rye grain bags that i shook and now are at near 100%. underneath the bag has folded corners, there is one or two grains not colonized because they are stuck in the flap.
What are my options? a few days ago i tried to squeeze it close to the myc to get colonization. Idk if it helped much
