So I was just overlooking the actives in neighboring states, and noticed that liberty caps are supposedly found in Minnesota. Well seeing that Wisconsin gets west winds then it should be a reasonable assumption that finding lib caps here shouldn't be too far fetched. Any thoughts?? I do find gym spectabs and pluteus salicinus quite often here, but finding pan subs has been a bit of a challenge.I'd definitely love to hunt for some libs, but I figured I'd ask some of you shroomery wisconites first(:

Here is a find on mushroom observer in Minnesota. That is pretty close.

Go find some and let us know if there are any there.

Hi ya
Liberty caps are found in many areas of the world, and its not impossible for them to be in Wisconsin.... Though, being no one has ever reported them there, I would not hold my breath searching. I looked at the website Mushroom Observer and looks like found rarely in Minnesota... Very rarely...
They grow in fields, parks, pastures with certain grasses. Very possible the grasses they like just don't grow in your state...And many mushrooms develop symbiotic (or parasitic) relationships with certain plants... Without those plants, mushrooms that need that relationship won't grow.
Read up on them:
