Connection said: You don't have to stop thought in order to meditate. The rise in frequency and calmness comes from the focus of breathe. People spend their whole lives meditating fighting thought, distracting themselves with stories about how thought is bad, fear sinks in thinking i will never meditate or reach stillness calmness higher frequency if there are thoughts. The whole thing is a huge hoax. This process is so destructive causing a battle between yourself causing constant every 4 second chaos. It's rediculous. It's not thought that's the enemy it's the fact that you have all these mental stories engrained from fear thinking you won't reach your goals. You become so scared that you dont even try it. all the pain came from your forceful demand. Allow thoughts and focus on your breathe you'll be fine. Don't buy in to the stories of when people tell you to stop thinking. You have electric charges going through you and there's no way to stop that. Close your eyes wait, Focus on the breathe.
You just summarized why I like to chant instead of doing mindfulness meditations. You're right, very right.
Its not necessarily true. Clear mind meditation does nothing to make thought the enemy. Thoughts and mental chatter are things to let pass without resistance. The point is to let them flow without giving them much mind, and just like sleep, eventually the chatter will fade away.
Chanting is effective without a doubt but I find the clarity meditations to be much more intensive in controlling the mind.
I just dont want people to see the mind clearing meditations as the enemy.

Meditation is really used in the West in an Eastern sense. In Christianity, meditation has to do with attempting to understand a written scripture. It is a mentally discursive process. The Christian term for what we ordinarily call meditation is Contemplation. I want to be clear on this because whether we say meditation or contemplation, the forms are all colored by one religious tradition or the other, and it is helpful if one does not have serious problems with one's own tradition, but can find a contemplative tradition somewhere in one's own religion. There are contemplative practices to be found in the major denominations of Christianity, and when they are not obvious, one can look into the personal history of the founder, say, John Wesley who developed Methodism, and find that he was really into Greek Patristic theology. In Eastern Orthodox Christianity, one finds the most profound techniques of Christian contemplation in all of Christendom, IMO. I don't know you or what exposure you have to a religious tradition. I would make a suggestion if you care to share something of your background. Jumping to an alien religious culture might be exotic and mysterious at first, but it is easier to dig where the ground has already be softened.

Thank you everyone! I will try all of these at some point. I am busy with my business at the moment.
