Strange myc growth in WBS jar
    #18787272 - 09/01/13 09:44 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

I did a G2G transfer to 5 pint jars back on the 28th or 29th. I divided the master grain into 5 equal portions of 2 tablespoons so all of the jars would be on equal ground. 4 of them are colonizing quickly at pretty much the same pace and with the same characteristics. One, however...

The jar in question. Could it somehow be too dry? I prepared all of the WBS at once in one large batch before filling the jars, so they should be uniform...

The myc looks much more dense than the regular, aggressive and rhizomorphic myc. It is obviously much slower also.

Half of jar #5 is like this as well. The other side is normal and healthy.

Some snapshots of the other "normal" jars for comparison.

Environment, genetics or contamination? Not a major setback, but curious nonetheless.

One other thing: this is my first G2G (and grow)... Should I go ahead and shake these or let them finish colonizing on their own? I meant to shake the other day but I was hemmed up away from home for awhile.

They say curiosity killed the cat...
Fortunately, I am not a cat.

Genetics. I don't see anything out of the ordinary.

Looks good, like normal wbs jars. Looks like yours grow like mine, from the bottom, then from inside and out
