Hell yeah!!!!
I've been in Florida since Thursday. I can't wait to get back. My wife says the weather is perfect for the shrooms!

Only since today when we got some precipitation. I think the little dry spell we had was helpful.

Look for thickets of young loblolly pines on a hillside. You're sure to find 'em in greater numbers. The place I hiked today had soooo many rotten clusters I couldn't believe it. I'll go back in a few days hopefully and grab photos when everything fruits again. You wouldn't believe how many pounds of Amanita there are in these areas.

Wow, for real?!?! I have found one spot but its three miles of forest with patches of new growth along a little dirt path... but these areas are only maybe 50-75`sq...I have searched and searched these areas but they really aren't that big and they are pretty flat also...but I have found a few here and there so I can't really complain about anything. Just happy to be given the gift I was given lol...I'm going to try to go out really early in the morning before my kid gets up and my wife has to leave...maybe ill get lucky

I mean, how have you not seen mad clusters alongside the road? They're freakin' everywhere right now. Just go drive around. You'll see 'em! They seem to be a more cosmopolitan species than a deep forest dweller, although some of the prettiest most magical patches I've seen were in old growth pine. Just find a semi-dry area with lots of needles and resin. When I pick caps in these mad clustered areas with dense pines, the caps have a sticky residue from all the pine sap in the soil.

I'm wondering the same thing...I inspect houses for a living so I'm always on the road and I don't see them around my city ever... I'm not sure why...I have looked on this website to see if anyone has found anything in or around close to Rome but I see nothing. This city is a lot lower elevation than everything around it but I don't think that's it... I search every single place I go though... I can't imagine my area is so different than yours...but I don't know for sure...haven't really been to central north GA...

Lots and lots of old growth pines though...not a ton of new growth...maybe that could be an issue...?

It could be, I know I didn't start seeing them in typical areas til about mid to late september last year. I think I'm just more observant this year than others. And yes here there is a lot of new development constantly, so there are young thickets of pines popping up all the time. I think you'd want to find an area with about 5-7 year old trees. Maybe 10, idk. Or wait a little and they will start popping in older growth areas. You'll find that one patch... that one magical place that will be your go to area. Don't worry! Just be persistent.

That one trail I have found all mine on has a trail cut through it and patches of pine no more than 8-10' but they are small patches of pine. I look literally everyday. Aether it be at work or going to the store or I walk my son around everyday...just haven't seen them in abundance anywhere yet. But I will! I was going to go out this morning but when I got up around 5:30 it was like a hurricane outside... was still gunna go but too much lightning so ill have to wait till tomorrow morning before work I guess...

I'd wait 3 or 4 days after hard rain to go out and find them.

Well I try to go every chance I get... I'm really just looking for different spots, since im so new to the area...everything is SO different up here lol...its a nice change though. The same place gets boring after 20 years or so, no matter how nice of a postcard it makes lol

Hash, what region of Gwinnett have you been finding them in? North, south, east, west?

It doesn't matter. They're there if you're in the right environment. Its less about geographic region and more about habitat specifications. And also drier weather. I saw a few clusters today but they were totally mangled. They do not like it this wet. There's some good little buttons that will pop here when it dries out for a day or so.

Took a little drive in an area that I scoped a few weeks back.

I feel pretty confident about the 2, but what do y'all think about the 3rd?
