Yah looks like Cauliflower and angels wings.
I found a lot of angels wings my last time out, but descriptions I've found of the mushrooms edibility made me run away from eating them.
Supposedly most people are fine, but for an unlucky minority it kills them.

How is it different than lacunose? Using image search results... they look the same to me. Plus, they vary in appearance from mushroom to mushroom so it's extra hard for me to see a difference.

Every time I try to open it, it loads about 10% and then freezes my browser I'll try after restarting...
I'll gladly read it when it opens. Thanks Alan. Saw your photos of Helvella on a google image search. Top results Nice pics.

That's some heavy reading for someone not familiar with the species So it seems the big, visual difference is SIZE. Vespertina get BIG! But young specimens are hard to differentiate from H. lacunosa.

Came home with a grocery bag full of chanterelle californicus, pleurotus ostreatus and agaricus agustus yesterday, in Arcata, Ca. Was some of the biggest chants I've ever seen and I also found the biggest hedgehog I've ever seen. I wonder if the amazing flush had anything to do with the full moon?
Cheers and happy hunting!

I constantly find sunglasses! One year I found six pair of them in total. I've found 3 or 4 knifes, wallets, money and all sots of other shit. It pays to stare at the ground.
