There's a difference between desperation/need and being opportunistic. If I was faced with a dire situation, sure... I'd sell what I have to make ends meet. But if I don't NEED to, I wouldn't. Currently, I'm considering a trade... mush for another tattoo. I gotta design it first
I literally have people offer me money and I refuse. I just give it to them. But that's only people I trust and feel won't "abuse" the mushroom. People that will walk away having had a positive experience. BUT... etting off topic...

I don't sell anything else, no edibles and certainly nothing illegal. I sell these to a wholesaler, I don't know what they do with them, nor do I care! I've heard you can prepare a. muscaria in a way that will remove all of the poison, but I don't trust myself enough to prepare it. These would all be trampled by 2 year olds or eaten by dogs in this park, so I rescued them. I hope they find a good home

Maybe that's too strong of a word, how about "a guy who sells them to people who sell them on ebay"?

This is 20+ lbs of Bear's Head Tooth that took a little under 2 hours to harvest. I can only eat a so much, so out to market it goes.. I collect a few hundred dollars and chefs get to have their mushrooms. And believe me they appreciate it. They just rot otherwise, for good or bad. So I pick as many as possible. These are mostly carved in roadside areas too, there's vast vast VAST amounts of territory where mushrooms of all kinds come and go and release spores. Picture it. We're hardly a dent.

Are those "violet corts" any relation to Armillaria sp? They look like purple Honeys...
Those mirabilis still look cool! I love the color of the cap. I found some beautiful ones before but didn't know they were edible until I posted pics here

Nope, not too close. The Armillaria currently are grouped in the Physalacriaceae family, whereas the Cortinarius fall under the Cortinariaceae. As different as rattlesnakes are from boa constrictors.

That rice pasta looks intriguing. I have been lovin' pasta with shrooms. Toothy pasta like shells and I've fallen in love with orzo.

Went out to check out the Olympic Peninsula for the first time. I figured I'd kill 2 birds with 1 stone, and decided I'd also go on my first chanterelle hunt!!
It worked out

Also, I found some other stuff that I believe to be edible, but I could be way off....

Jof: Congrats on finding Chants on your first hunt for them. Your 2nd pic perfectly captures the essence of the Northwest forests. I'm not too familiar with size but the "edible" ones you were wondering about look like "Angel Wings" due to being stark white BUT they also look bigger like Oysters. Not sure...
