Ah man yall gotta try this.

Soft boil a couple of eggs. Seven minute boil directly into ice water.(great for ramen)
And fry a chant in sesame seed oil till golden.
Put into miso soup with some
shallots and en-freakin-joy.

edit- I put fermented chile paste into it as well.

Does not pair well with an IPA...

Gotta love the kings! Nice score.

I found some Sunday as well in the cascades.  A bit water logged.  Pounds of waterlogged chants laying around.  I'm hoping it drys up a bit and then flush two begins!

Anyone living in the Seattle-Everett area who knows what they're doing hunting for mushrooms? I want to go with someone who is experienced so I can learn more about indicator species,  habitat and identification. My wife won't let me go into the mountains alone because she's pregnant and overly worried.

I found hundreds of these shaggy parasols this weekend. I wasn't 100% on the ID so I left them all in the ground,  but after printing it at home I'm sure it's not green spored parasol. Next time I'll take some to eat.

Them's kings, baby.  Prince are Agaricus augustus.  You appear to have Boletus edulis.

Though now that I think about it, seems that I have heard folks talk about king, queen and prince boletes.  But these are not the kind of people that can spout any proper names, so what can you do?

Maybe I wasn't clear, I found the princes the other day and those edulis on that day of posting.  Went back and got ten more of them, with 20-30 pins showing in the area.

So my question is this,  do these grow in the same area as green spored parasol? Could I safely print one after harvest and assume all of the other ones in that harvest are also shaggy parasol? Or should I print every single cap?

Polyozellus multiplex (blue chanty)

I'm way jelly of your multiplex find man!  Nice.  I still have yet to come across them.

You have a few more pics of that possible matsi?  A detail of how the gills attach to the stem would be a good start.  The stem looks a bit long but who knows.  If not a matsi I'd guess Catathelasma sp.

I guess they can be right next to each other but I would doubt it given the temps we have been having.

It is no issue to print them all though.

Ok, I'll do that next time, I'll just lop off the caps and put them on layers of foil in my basket.

Thanks!

Still looking for someone to go mushroom hunting with in the greater seattle area!

i think the red staining behavior of the shaggy differentiates it from the green spored pretty effectively.

That last one looks a lot like a matsi to me and the smell you describe is consistent.  I don't think the scent is as strong as you can be lead to believe from the written word.  Took me awhile to pick up on it.  If you leave a few chunks of overripe matsi in your compost bucket you'll get it, tho'.  LOL

Get a good closeup of the gill attachment like NomadBrad said - and slice it down the middle, give us a good shot of that.

Congrats!  As soon as my paratex poncho gets here I'm hittin' it for matsi!

Mr. Piggy - got it, sorry.  ;-)  Of course you know your kings from your princes.

I thought the same thing till I saw a picture of C. molybdites staining
red just today.

Someone showed it to me because I said the same thing you just did.
