Nice Jack-o-lanterns Joust!!! Hope they glow fr ya
To OregonBlueShroom: HA! Some. Like art said. Thats a shit load dude!!! They look tasty.
To art2312: I kinda thought the oysters I found were a bit rubbery on the caps too. I didnt get a tingling though. I cooked em real long in butter. I got a whole bag of em yet and the taste mustve stuck with me because I want to thaw em out and have some more. I am not 100% on them though either just because I found them so Its a waste to thaw em least I mean to eat em all

@ art
Yeah i eat them regularly when i find good amounts, i usually keep them fresh for 2-3 days then dehydrate the rest to use in soups. If I dont dehydrate them they go bad fast after that.
Never had the problem with the leathery texture, they always turn out good for me when sauteed or made in soup. Even after dehydration.

@OBS: I had some frozen after i cooked them in butter they been frozen for a few weeks Im cooking them up now. They smell fine but they look all tan Im thinking due to the butter. Do you think they will be alright considering? I can post a pic If needed. I had them IDed as oysters here and already tried some before with no ill effects.

Hmmm...that's really weird. I wouldn't think they would be misidentified but I guess it is possible. After all, everybody makes a mistake every now and then. I guess ill have to look into to that some more. I would really like to try them. Thank you for your help! I appreciate it.

Ive never ate frozen mushrooms so i wouldnt know for sure. If they were cooked first they should be safe although theres no way they will taste as good as fresh.
I usually eat what i can fresh then before it starts to go bad dehydrate it all, whatever molds or goes bad goes into compost. This is how i do it for all my edibles. It keeps me out hunting for a fresh supply during mushroom season and it keeps me stocked with a dried supply for when i cant pick more.

Right on! Thats what i should do too. I used to fish a LOT! I would catch them, cut em up and throw the meat on ice until I got home. I would eat some and freeze the rest. I guess I was trying to do the same thing with the mushies but Im sure your right because The fish i froze never tasted as good as fresh! I will just cook em up n maybe taste one and if I like it wait an hr and go from there. I got two burgers cooking in a sep. pan so I wont go hungry either way TY for the fast reply!

Sauteed in butter first and frozen in their own juices, most meaty mushrooms stay very tasty and keep their texture better than dried ones. Of course, fresh is best.

None are active. I would like to point out again that this is not an ID thread. This is a show your finds thread.
Please post your ID's properly with an ID request form.
Thx.

Took 3 days and toured Olympic Penninsula. I'm on mushroom overload, i found so many different interesting ones i fried my brain tryin to ID stuff. one thing for sure is i know without a doubt what A. brevipes and H. auranctiaca are. couple pics of things i brought home.
L. deliciosus
 Amethyst Laccaria
 A. augustus i spotted while driving 60mph down the highway, slammed on the brakes and turned around. i knew exactly what it was as soon as i glimpsed it out of the corner of my eye.
 nice little puffball pin cluster
hefty lobster and a dyers conk. girlfriend likes to dye yarn and knit winter hats.
handful of blewits and a random A. silvicola (i think)

found a bunch of boletes and leccinum (sp?) also but not confident enough with ID to say one way or t'other.
