Ok, so Maynard was saying there should be one of these threads.
I agreed. Even though I have bagged on "Official" threads in the past.
I am just getting old and grumpy. Bob knows what I am saying.

Lobster mushrooms

Craterellus tubaeformis

Reishi

Cantharellus cibarius var. roseocanus

Ganz & BlueShroom - what's the altitude you're working at?
-------------------- "Shrub, 30-90 cm. Leaves 2.5-) 4-9 cm, sessile or amplexicaul, broadly ovate to ovate-oblong, obtuse or rounded to subapiculate or subacute, when crushed not smelling of goats." "The initial quake was a 6.6 but fairly shallow. I felt it as a prolonged up and down vibration followed by a jolt forward and then to the left, like square dancing."

Went out on highway 6 this morning to go for a hunt. After finding a few chants my buddy and I decide to head down the road.
Get to the car but it won't start...... A couple of nice girls stop to give us a jump but the battery won't take a charge. Got a ride with a couple of squirrel hunters down to banks so I could get a signal. Really nice dudes.
Currently waiting at Jim's grocery store for her to come get me. Not exactly how I planned today. Hahaha

Thanks for the tub Joust. Or should I thank yer dad?
There were so friggin many! We did not even put a dent in how many there were. And it is a second growth forest.
Super great day despite the broken down car.
Glad I could put a smile on your face Bob.

That is awesome Ganzig i am jealous!! I always thought of white chantrelles as super rare. I have never found one and a friend of mine told me he found them once in 17 years of picking. That is a great find, good for you

Just wanted to share a simple recipe that I did for this mornings gnosh.
What you need One to two large chopped chanterelles 3 eggs One small clove of garlic minced 1/2 tablespoon of parmesan reggiano 1/2 teaspoon of salt and pepper to your liking. one tablespoon of high heat oil. I use safflower one tablespoon of butter.
Pre-heat pan to medium heat for 4 mins
put in oil then butter. Swirling butter into oil and lifting off heat if necessary to avoid burning the butter.
Put chanterelles into the hot oil and butter. When juice from chants comes out into the pan put in your garlic. Cook on medium high heat until chanterelle juice disappears.
What I mean is that after a few minutes the cloudy chant juice will turn clear. It is almost an instantaneous thing. Really cool to see as well.
Cook for 4 more minutes then add your three eggs.
fold and mix eggs as you would at home. Everyone has their own style.
After a couple of folds add salt and pepper.
Important! Do not over cook eggs. Dry eggs are lame.
Before the eggs are done fully cooking turn off heat or remove from heat.
Microplane your parmesan into the mix and turn and mix again.
Serve with toast. some pan seared tomatoes are pretty great with it too. Adds great flavor and color.
Serves two and is friggin delicious.
Make sure that the garlic is slightly browned in cooking before adding eggs for better flavor.
Cheers!

Sounds great man! I've heard other people say that chanterelles goes well with eggs, when I find some I will have to give this a try. Thank for the recipe.
