The attitudes people are having in this thread towards a small cat that, as far as we know, displayed ZERO aggressive behavior, is disgusting. I would bitch slap anyone who would shoot something that they can easily subdue or kill with their bare hands for simply being around 'their precious (kid)'. Huskies are part wolf, part domesticated and THOUSANDS of people own them and have kids in the same house. And whoever said cats are more aggressive or deadly or some retarded shit like that needs his dick cut off so he cant reproduce, save our species while we can from scared punks like this that have never been around a cat for more than 5 minutes and think that they have the right to decide if it should exist or not based on their lack of knowledge.
How do you call yourself a man when you would shoot a small animal like that. YOU OWN A FUCKING HOUSE. PUT YOUR KID IN THE HOUSE AND THEN YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT FROM THE CAT. Unless you think it poses some threat to you in which case you are a pathetic excuse for a man. There is a large (80+lb) black husky with blue eyes in our suburban neighborhood that roams freely and pisses on most peoples yards every morning. It has come all the way into our backyard and even up onto our deck numerous times. Not ONCE has it barked, even when I approached it. And once approached by people it starts slowly going away. I wasn't afraid of that thing in middle school so you must be quite the sorry piece of human to be afraid of a 25lb cat as a full grown "man".

I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion. [Carl Sagan, 1987 CSICOP keynote address]

Really, you honestly think my dick should be cut off for saying this:
Quote:
zappateer said: Felines are stronger and fiercer than canines. They also stalk their prey and this particular cat was half wild animal so it was probably much more dangerous than a 25 pound dog. I still wouldn't have shot the cat though.
Of course a 25 pound half-serval is more dangerous than a dog. I didn't say the cat should have been killed though, dummy.

Cats tend to have an attack and run mentality (part of their hunting mentality) where as dogs don't. I'd say cats being more dangerous than dogs is highly debatable. A cat will probably swipe at you a few times and take off running, a dog will keep attacking until it can't (or there's no need) any longer.
I'd honestly not want to piss off my 20 pound Boston Terrier/hound mix.. Despite her small size I'm fairly confident she could do more than superficial damage and she has the energy and speed to be dangerous. She has extremely powerful jaws, no doubt stronger than a cat of comparable size. The only thing the cat really has going for it is the claws. Its pretty common for house cats to be declawed, so there's a fairly good chance any given cat doesn't even have that advantage.

Saying a Savannah is inherently dangerous is like saying a pitbull is inherently dangerous. Either line of thinking is retarded.

I'm sorry I went overboard in response to your comment. I was still thinking about the moron who owns a house and is afraid that the 25lb cat will destroy it and his entire family.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around exactly what about these cats makes you think they are more dangerous than an aggressive, 80lb+ dog with more than twice the cat's bite force. This cat can't even fit its mouth around your whole hand and you think its dangerous... This cat has claws that would at MOST give you minor cuts that wouldn't even require stitches. If you are threatened by something that is less than 25% of your body weight that isn't poisonous you need to work out or get a better appreciation for what you are capable of. We are THE MOST DEADLY CREATURE ON THE PLANET(and the most intelligent), AND YOU CANT BEAT AN OVERGROWN HOUSE CAT? DAFUQ?

Seems like a pretty moronic train of thought to me that you are afraid of this animal.

So... we can use just about any vulgar language we want... so long as it isn't directed at someone? Or is it 'moron' in specific? I'm pretty sure I've insulted people in a much more vulgar way before this, so I'm a bit confused.

It's not always enforced but you can be banned for personal insults. Calling someone's arguments stupid is fair game though.

I think people just assume that a bigger cat that has some wild blood in it -- even if it's only slightly bigger than a house cat -- is a serious threat.
It would be one thing if this cat was a 150 pound jaguar or 120 pound cheetah roaming the neighborhood. Well that's obvious. But a 25 pound cat isn't going to attack small children or small dogs. Period. Why? because it too IS SMALL. 25 pounds is nothing. Cats don't go around attacking stuff for fun; they do it to eat. And if it's too big they're not going to fuck with it.
This 25 pound cat would be hunting and eating small birds and rodents. Not children and people's house pets

Huskies are all wolf. They've just been selectively bred over a long period. Dogs and wolves are now considered a single species.
