Scariest...

Just seeing the humor in my recent injury thread, I wanna see where this one goes. What was the absolute scariest moment in your life? I mean goosebumps, knots in your belly, loss of motor skills, bowel voidage. Or just talk about the aliens you've seen flying overhead. That's creepy too.
Most fear (literal fear) I've ever felt was when I was attacked in a public place. Very intense. Although I have a new respect for fear now. Just a precursor to fight-or-flight... or in my case, 'freeze'.
Also, one time in my yard, I heard a howl / screech / moan noise way off in the distance. I live in some pretty dense woods, with people scattered through the area. Gave me goosebumps, though. Never been so freaked out. About a month later, I heard that exact noise on MonsterQuest and according to them, that noise isn't consistent with any of the hundreds of thousands of animal noises that've been recorded. Bigfoot? Or inbred redneck sexual practices? Creepy, regardless.
Now, scare us with your scary ass stories. +5 if you give me goosebumps!

I was following my parents in a winter storm going down the highway and watched them spin out of control and flip their vehicle multiple times. I thought they were dead. My Pops fish tailed and over corrected and in the blink of an eye their SUV was flipping.
Amazingly enough they only suffered minor cuts and bruises. By far the scariest moment of my life, though. By far.

Damn! Glad they didn't get hurt. I live in an area where seeing cars in the ditch in the winter is pretty normal. Definitely scary stuff!

I've been lost in forests overnight before, that's some scary shit when all you have is supplies you brought for a day trip.
The most I've ever been honestly scared to my inner core is from my dreams. I get these very disturbingly vivid dreams that play off my deepest fears. Sometimes I wake up with what I call "battle wounds" from acting out my self defense actions that I'm doing in my dreams. Its hard to understand until it happens to you.
Also the few minutes getting prepped for open heart surgery was pretty fucking nerve racking.

Forest fright is no joke. Not been there but I could imagine since I've done a little wilderness survival stuff.
And I've had dreams where my actions somewhat correlate to whats going on in my dreams. Like throwing a strike at someone in my dreams but twitching really bad while asleep. Same thing?
And damn, much respect for persevering!

Anything involving cars and flipping is damn scary in my opinion? Especially in a damn Wrangler.

I'm not sure to be honest.. There's been a lot of stomach churning dread in my life, but it's mostly been fear of going to jail.. Going into court not knowing if that's the day I'm not coming home or not.. Shit always ends up getting drawn out for months too, so I get to repeatedly experience that. It never gets any easier no matter how many times you do it, either.
I punched a window once and upon pulling it back out, my wrist got slit really bad.. I was sure I was about to bleed out, it didn't just get sliced, it got ripped up pretty bad.
There was this one time when me and my brothers were off riding bikes, I don't think any of us were even over 10, and these two old teenagers (had to be 16 at least) decided to have some fun with us.. They started threatening to rape us and pulled out a condom and everything.. Shit was pretty terrifying.
Flipped a Nissan 240sx going about 120 mph in a high speed chase once.. Wasn't me driving, I was in the back seat. It all happened to fast to be scared of the wreck but I was sure we were all going to jail. Looking back on the crash I'm surprised any of us walked away. Flipped it 2 1/2 times and the car was all kinds of fucked up. I didn't even have a seat belt on, I landed on the back window after the first flip. Could have easily been tossed out or crushed if that window had gave way. Me and my brother got to go home that night because the driver took the fall and said that we didn't know the car was stolen (we did).
The wrist thing happened just the day before the car thing and when the car flipped me and my brother crawled out while friend that was driving took off running. Trooper decided to stay with us and he had his gun on us and stuff. I was screaming at him not to pull me by my right hand or he'll rip it open more, and he didn't listen.. He yanked me 20 feet away from the car by that wrist.. I bet he did it on purpose, too.

That's basically what the car looked like afterwards.. Just total carnage.

With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way. I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. Thankfully you're here to share the stories. Hope you make better decisions!
And your post reminded me! The time that I was most scared was probably when I received my prison sentence. I thought I shit myself. When I went back to my cell, I had to check myself to see if there was fecal matter. Having your life literally taken from you is pretty fucking horrifying!

What.The.Hell. I don't know if I want a jeep more or less after that. Always wanted one but where I live with sharp turns and bad winters and my desire to speed, it could be bad.

Yeah, I'm not sure how, but I walked away from that without any real injury.. All 3 of us did.. My brother hit his head on the roof but not even hard enough to welt up, my knees slammed together and left a bruise for a few days and driver wasn't hurt at all..
I'm also now terrified of car wrecks.. Especially on long drives, I'm painfully aware of what will happen if I get in a head on at highway speeds.
Oh that reminds me.. Just a month or so ago, we were on the highway doing 70, and this car in the oncoming lane goes to pass another car.. I was texting (I was the passenger) at the time but out of the corner of my eye, I saw something just appear in our lane, I looked up and saw a grill coming right at us, scared the living fuck out of me. I felt nauseous for the rest of the day from the adrenaline rush/dread. I was braced for impact and everything.

It was a dark day in kindergarten, and we had just finished singing the itsy bitsy spider song. Now it was nap time so our teacher had us get our foam mats out of the closet and lie down.
A couple grown-ups were arguing outside the classroom and I remember a woman's angry voice and a man using bad words.
Sometimes fireworks go off around town and it's just some kind of practical joke, but it definitely wasn't fireworks exploding in our hallway. Ms. Bipperly left the classroom in a hurry when the popping sound started and told us to keep napping.
I ,being the class clown and a total dipshit, even for a 5 year old, followed her out the classroom door only to see a piece of her head go splatting off. She slumped against the frame, and a little blood even got spattered on my favorite green sweatshirt (it was the 80s and sweatshirts were all the rage), I ran back inside and hid under her desk.
The other children were unaware of what was happening, but I grabbed a pen. My brother told me about people being beaten up by strangers and I knew that I should always stab, kick or bite my way out during a stranger danger situation.
Pretty soon the children were screaming, one by one, pop, scream chaos, a few of my friends ran under the desk, there was Franky, Timmy and Joey. All of our faces were stained with tears, looking back we must have appeared precious even as our mortal coil was about to be shuffled, but Joey was smart and said we had to kill him.
So Timmy counted to 3 and we ran against the bullets, Brave Franky got popped in the chest, but Joey, the thinker of the group, had taken a paperweight off the teacher's desk. He threw it at the gunman , even as Franky lay dead on the floor like a bloody sack of potatos.
To be honest Franky was kind of a douche. The gunman was forced to lower his weapon for a fraction of a second, and this is when I thrust upward with my bic. I crammed that pen into his thigh just as Timmy lunged into his stomache like a pee-wee football star, pretty soon other kids were on him biting and scratching. The gunman flung Timmy against the wall. It made a thud that I can still feel in my heart when I think about it. That's when I got .
He got a few more shots off and a bullet glanced my head tearing out a chunk of amazing brown hair. I remember Susie, she let out a war cry and jumped from a desk grabbing his head and pulling it upward.
I saw my opening and lunged for his throat with my teeth. I seized onto what I know now is his Adam's apple, and I had that fucker crying. Teachers from down the hall were in the room by now, but they couldn't get me to let go of his throat. I needed blood.
Well to make a long story short, our Kindergarten managed to subdue the gunman, but he had to pay, so I went in for the death blow. I even lost a tooth. I like to think that the creators of mortal combat were inspired by my ferocity. The tooth fairy gave me $1... cheap bitch.

I was really sick once and at one point had been throwing up so much that when I gasped for air my throat became clogged with phlegm of some sort and I couldn't breathe. (my nose was also pretty stuffy)
Really fucking terrifying thrashing around for air, couldn't scream out for help or anything.
I don't even remember how I saved myself, it's a huge blur.

I've never really felt True fear from anything that was actually life threatening. I mean you said literal fear, I've felt extreme fear from a panic attack or other frivolous things that aren't really that bad.
I have had a few "heart skips a beat" moments on my motorcycle before, but those aren't really debilitating fear or anything.
