That sounds pretty sweet.

Nah, they were on a suspended platform in the middle of the Grand Canyon.
I posted about the new Crystal Method album when it came out a few months back, and over the past couple days I’ve been getting back into it. It’s really great how the new stuff stays true to the 90s big beat feel, but incorporates newer sounds and stylings. It’s an excellent pairing of contemporary music with nostalgia, and some of it really goes off.

Here’s one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite dance music albums. When Glass Swords came out, people were calling it “liquid trap” music, and I get the name, but it’s really more of a digital maximalism thing. Despite only running at 80-some BPM it’s very “full”, the song is sonically eruptive. Just bursting with lots of different sounds and even color and emotion.

I was a huge Rustie fan, such a shame he went junkie and stopped producing. He used guitar MIDI to create those melodies with mad glide. I heard someone else similar, can't remember who maybe it was KRANE?

I saw him do a dj set in July 2014 in Philadelphia, it was pretty sick. Ran into him just walking around the club, chatted for a couple minutes. He’s a real nice kid. I didn’t care much for his Green Language album, too many features. I recall he announced he was going to rehab, and then I feel like I never heard anything more from Rustie after that. Tough for me to imagine that someone as musically gifted as he is just stopped producing; maybe he’s doing like Burial and staying to himself, releasing under a different name. Whatever he’s up to, I hope shit’s going ok for him. Dude’s insanely talented and I honestly believe that Glass Swords is one of the best electronic music records ever made.

That's so cool you met him. I loved Green Language. Too much is just about right, imo. I made a radio show years ago with Tempest as the intro.

All this Rustie talk inspired me to listen to EVENIFUDONTBELIEVE today. I remember liking it when it came out, but didn’t keep going back to it like I did with Glass Swords. It’s actually really really good.
I have a track by Rustie on vinyl, embedded below. It was from 2008 when he was still more or less using the common dubstep template, and the other side of the record had a real killer tune (‘Play Doe’) by Joker.

I’m about halfway through the album right now, it’s really sick. Thanks for the recommendation dude, this is great music. Like a merger between glitch, psy dub, and ambient with a ton of organic sounding instrumentation that gives it a nice ethereal feel.

Azealia Banks is kinda human garbage though. You should look into what she has to say about the Irish. Also, she’s the inferior rapper when compared to Angel Haze (who was a contemporary at the time when 212 was released).
