Does anyone remember when folks weren't making trap all cookie cutter style, and it was sick AF? I love this tune because it's like 4 songs smashed together, but united by a common theme. It starts out with this smooth, C.R.E.A.M.-y intro, then goes into some bumping trappiness, then some glammy, clubalicious 2-step, into a funky tribal bass riddim outro. Gorgeous vocal work throughout. Loved this one 4 years ago, and it still rocks today.

one of the most important songs in recent electronic music
It's simple, and it's amazing. This particular song has one of the most well thought out sound designs (so fucking simple, yet so fucking amazing)
i agree a lot of trap now a days is fucking garbage, but artists like laxx always pump out amazing fucking trap for sure.

What makes that song important? It sounded like an average trap club banger to me. Not bad for what it is, but why is it important in terms of all recent electronic music?

Well more so just bass electronic music. There is a massive underground scene and that song is extremely unique and influential, so many artists have tried to copy it's style (think terror squad lol).
speaking of terror squad, that is also one of the most important electronic songs in recent times; even if it was stolen from skrillex originally. zomboy actually made it into the amazing song that influenced so many artists today.
check out this video. skism is the owner of never say die, one of the biggest and best names in electronic for the last few years.
He explains why some of these songs are important to electronic, he is a VERY experienced and skilled artist so his word should be worth something. anyways, here is a song. it is pretty damn amazing. eptic is very skillful, all of his tunes are quite unique and very well put together.

Thanks for explaining your take on it. I'm not sure I agree with you, however, but that's fine. The skism video didn't clear anything up for me; it was basically just him listing a bunch of songs with big drops. I'll agree that spongebob & where's my money & even that skrillex tune were important within the brostep scene, but I remain unconvinced that the laxx song is important in a larger context with regards to electronic music. Appreciate it though.
Btw, the eptic song sounded way cooler to me than Step Two, but that's just IMO.

Here's an amazing song from 1998, off the seminal remix EP Hallucin8 released for RitM's 'Floori D.A.'. Easily one of the coolest DnB tunes I've ever heard. It's another one that's kinda a combo of several different tunes. It opens with some tranquil, pretty piano stuff, real soothing strings. Then it morphs into this large, epic bass showcase. By the end, it fully metamorphizes into a rip-roaring, lighter-pushing, drum n bass monster. I love it because of the progression; the whole song is a shapeshifter. I played this in the club once, just for myself, and was shocked when it actually got a huge response from the crowd. I didn't think it had that kind of appeal, but apparently it does. On a big sound system, the echoing bass hit part sounds like a giant knocking on the wall. I know it's long, but if you really listen, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Burke, maybe you can help me.
I'm looking for a dnb tune with very little info regarding said tune.
Out of 90s probably.
The name of the song could've been "....... forest".
There was a repeating piano line that never once varied throughout the song.
A short minor line, kinda sad, for the few notes that were in it.
Thanks in advance, wish I could be more helpful.

The only tunes that I have with naming like that are 'A forest' by Jess Mills, and 'Rainforest' by Krone & Malsum.
Sure you aint thinking of Bambaata by Shy FX?

I hear ya. I've just been a lot into the dubstep scene this past 2 years or so and it's a song that really blew my mind when I first heard it because of how unique it was, even though it wasn't an amazing song or anything (it is like most trap songs where it's repetitive) and now I hear lots of mixes and whatnot with either the song or it's style but that doesn't really include the "entire scope of electronic" so to speak. It mainly just has to do with the underground scenes, hell that badklaat-head crush song he named at the end has set a foot print for the next few years of riddim that's for sure but that entire genre/scene is underground so it doesn't really affect most of electronic in general.
Anyways, as for some drope music
mura masa - lotus eater
this dude has a very unique style. most of his tracks are pretty damn crazy, but this one in particular is my favorite. Just the amazing use of abnormal instruments and then the frequency the bass plays at during the drop really make this song interesting.
