Todays Hunt!
    #18780964 - 08/31/13 11:15 AM (10 years, 5 months ago)

How's it going fellow shroomerites?I've been finding all kinds of killer fungus this season, and I would like to share all my cool finds of today with you all.

I've been finding lots of these Gymnopilus, and they bruise a dark black, blue where damaged.Wonder if they could be active?

I've also been finding these heavily bluing Pluteus,of which I believe to be cyanopus, and let me tell you these bruise so blue, and are so potent,it ain't funny!

I found some more cool finds, but my internet connection is right up there with dial up,so,I'll post the rest of my finds throughout the day. Thanks for looking.

The one that is bruising blue is pluteus salicinus
And it is indeed active.

Thanks my man,You're  awesome! So,you think the Gymns could be active eh?Which type do you think they could be?I think the most resemble Gymnopilus liquiritiae, but it says they aren't active.

Not sure what species you found,I'm only familiar with a few different sp.of gyms.
I can see some bruising in a couple of pics, plus you said the was some  bluing so I assume they are active.

I do not see bluing in the Gymnopilus pics, just standard browning.    Maybe they do blue though, its hard to see.

Excellent first post!
Some people spend years looking for active Pluteus with no luck.
Good job, you should be proud. :congrats:

Eat them and report back.  But don't eat all of them, save a dried collection also.  When it is completely dry put it in a ziplock bag and label it with the mushroomobserver.org observation number.

Take a spore print, if you collected. Should be gray turning red. Post a pic,  cause it sounds pretty rad.

It is kind of darkening, but does not look like psilocybin bluing to me.

Wow, I don't think I've seen such a large bluing Pluteus before! And so dark blue...Much too large for P. cyanopus. From the top the almost look like P. cervinus. What state are you in, BigMedicine?
