Contaminated PF Cake? [Need Input]
    #18772160 - 08/29/13 08:43 AM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Hello Community,

First time cultivator here (First post for that matter as well) and I have concerns about one of my cakes currently pinning. It has been acquiring this growth at the bottom where some pins appear to be growing, but I am unsure if this is contamination or just overgrown mycelium. Could I get some input from you guys?

Here is the cake in question. Notice how the growth at the bottom looks pointy and sharp?

Here is a reference cake from the same batch. Looks much better in my opinion.

Don't think that's contaminated tbh. Is that water pooling on the top of the other cake? That will draw contams.

Phew! Thanks for the heads up. I'll cut back on the misting.

You shouldn't have water standing on the cake though, which would mean you are misting and fanning to often or misting but not fanning enough. Good luck!

After thinking about it I believe I took that picture right after a fan / mist session which I'm guessing is why there was water on top because they don't usually shine like that. I usually fan twice a day (At light cycle changes) and mist 3 or 4 times a day. Humidity stays around 98% during the night cycle and roughly 93% during the day cycle.

Does that all sound about right? I know it varies, but all your input is very beneficial to me

use spray that make very little drops to mist your cakes. water that collects on cakes can be great place for bacteria and other contams to hang out. and you don't want it :undecided:

your cakes are dry and all humidity in them collects at bottom so they're fruiting there.

but your cakes look fine to me :super:

(sorry for my English )

yeah, 3-4 good mist and fan are very good. but you should watch your cakes. you don't want to dry them but don't overmist too.:billnye:
