No, you won't find peyote wild there...
Quote:
L. williamsii is native to southern North America, mainly distributed in Mexico. In the United States it grows in southern Texas. In Mexico it grows in the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas in the north to San Luis Potosi and Zacatecas.[10] It is primarily found at elevations of 100–1,500 m (330–4,900 ft) and exceptionally up to 1,900 m (6,200 ft) in the Chihuahuan desert, but is also present in the more mild climate of the state of Tamaulipas. Its habitat is primarily in desert scrub, particularly thorn scrub in Tamaulipas. It is common on or near limestone hills.[11]

If buttons are harvested correctly, the plant will continue to live. If you come upon a peyote patch in NV, it's intentional. I'm sure there are a few. The desert holds many secrets.

Its still not good for the population, which is in decline. Just buy some san pedro or whatever and do the extraction.
I'm pretty sure OP broke a rule.
Poaching and theft of plants is illegal. Anyone who shows intent to do so or admits to taking plants from the wild, from a private property or public property without permission will be banned from the Ethnobotanical Garden Forum temporarily, if not permanently.
Yurp. But i'm going to break a rule by not pressing the whistle button.

Well one can only Imagine from the name "peyote hunting in nevada" and agreed smoakland. Even harvested buttons is still not good for these endangered sp. Just let them be before no one can see these growing wild on there own.

If I was near wild peyote I'd 'hunt' them just for the awesome pics I could get. He did not say he intended to break the law and saying he would break the law is itself illegal (slander) and thus against the rules And peyote is not endangered, its populations are only in decline in publicly accessible areas where the general public harvests it. Hell, I knew a rancher girl whos neighbor went around with a bucket of home made napalm and burned out all the peyote on his property to 'keep those damned hippies off my land'. He had to do it every year, the peyote always grew back like a weed
In your wanderings and plant hunts if you see Peganum harmala growing on public land you might easily get permission to harvest it, roots and all, by contacting the Nevada Department of Agriculture, Noxious Weeds Program. Just say you've taken an interest in the environment of your wonderful state and you spotted the horrible weed on public land and are willing to dig it out to save them the time and expense, they'll prolly give you the ok. Write down the name of who said ok.

Oh I know what he meant, just saying he didnt do anything to justify getting banned.

Bunch of lawyers in here or something. The rules around here are totally lax. He probably would not even get a temporary ban or even a warning. Not that I care. He probably doesn't care either, considering he has only 2 posts.

I'm sure you could find peyote in Nevada if you contacted a legit religious organization instead of a internet drug forum dedicated to mushrooms.

Ain't it illegal to pick any cacti from nature..? Especially what comes to united states law and peyote. Without any licence it's highly illegal and peyote probably even grow wild in Nevada.
Also harvesting plants from mother earth what are kinda fragile if not done properly is not good thing.
I have understand there is legal to grow peyote for religious purposes tho.. You should have some kind of DEA licence for that or something.. (information I have read from internet)
I would not harvest wild peyote if that's the point of this thread.. Or do you hunt them for taking photos of wild peyote?

It's actually not legal to grow peyote (according to the Federal Govt), but the DEA licenses wild harvesters. If you want peyote in Nevada, join the Peyote Way Church.
