Your cat should remove the coffee unless he has a perfectly clean area as while it's doable, contams love it.

Alright guys enough already. He said he was just joking around and I have seen several of his post and he never used swim or "my cat" before so cut him some slack. It's not like he just joined our community. He knows what's up. Besides my dog says he wants to get back to talking about cultivation Gee whiz

hahaha thanks psilly.
I decided to drop the coffee because its quite old and had been frozed, wasnt thawing as quickly as i would have liked and for the reason stygian mentioned -- contaminants.
i did Frank's pasteurize tek and fucked it up and now i think half of it is sterile and half of it is pasteurized. I guess i'll just try to be as clean as possible and hope for the best.

wait..... the weiner dog?
btw i wouldnt be surprised if my dubtub is fucked. like i said in my previous post..
here is a pic of it

so because i feared that i sterilized it, i took it into my bathroom (aka giant SAB that hasnt failed me yet) and did all the work in there. rubbed alcohol did all the shit i could think of to keep clean.. now of course once i put the polyfil in, thats a disaster. It came from the closet of the bedroom to the bathroom and had no sterile treatment (can i soak in alcohol and let it evaporate??? maybe next time....)
then i went to take ^ that pic and realized i somehow forgot two polyfil holes while the dubtub was sitting on my kitchen counter... so, gj on that one. I'm not too confident in this, and it saddens me. If it pulls through i will be a very happy camper. free prints for those of you who didnt troll me!! <3

Tbag you're not getting my dog! That is my side kick. I am trying to teach him to cultivate like psilocybebonsai's cat as we speak!
Psilocybebosai my best advice to you is next time K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid) No offense intended
A plain coir/verm/gypsum substrate in a monotub (or dubtub) has been very good to me. I don't understand why anyone would want to add other things to it when this simple mixture performs so well.
Good luck with your tub. I hope it works out for you. Keep us updated on its progress

yeah i didnt wanna make it complicated, and i ended up not. The coffee, after some thought, seemed too complicated.
Keep in mind i'm in it for the science. I know things have been tested and proven, but i like to question those things and see where else i can go, based on it. (of course coffee isnt new, but i am new so tested methods that have been tested is an adventure for now).
My favorite part is the process, the fruit bodies are the reward.
No offense taken.

I occasionally add spent coffee grains to my spawn, while it does still up contam rates at 2nd or 3rd flush, it's less finicky than adding it to bulk and the mushies still love it.
