WBS jars colonizing ?
    #18738718 - 08/21/13 05:14 PM (10 years, 6 months ago)

I nocc'd my jars 4 days ago and so far I'm not seeing any signs of colonization except for a small white fuzz on the top of a seed or two, but that's only in a few of the jars. I assume I need to be more patient ?
I have them stored in a cabinent above my fridge

From what I recall I had originally made 5 jars because I didn't make enough mix, so I had to whip up another 2 jars. I'm curious if these 2 jars are those.. But I wouldn't understand why it would grow quicker, unless its because I used more gypsum

Ya 4 days is pretty early to worry about anything, should be feeling lucky for seeing mycelium so fast lol. The second pic looks a little bit wet I'm assuming from the syringe?
Just be patient shouldn't be much longer before those two need a good shaking!

Thanks man! I'm not sure why but some of them have some condensation building up around the top of the jar. Not much, but very little. Would it be from the myc growth? I actually had my jars sitting out for a week after being PCd before inoc. Couldn't be too wet.

The condensation is due to temperature swings. The interior and exterior temp difference creates condensation on the warmer side. Your jar and grains hold a bit of heat so when the temp dips around them, condensation forms.

What kind of filter on the lid do you have? I try not to look at them for 5 to 8 days after inoculation... Wait until you get into grain to grain to be exicited at day 4!

I like the tyvek and micropore tape after inoculation seems best for gas exchange and you can lean towards the side of maybe a little wetter of grains because they seem to dry out so fast... if the polyfill is too tight the whole thing cant breathe

:callingbullshit:

You should stuff the poly as tight as you possibly can and then some for grain lids.

They will not stall out, trust me.

I really think it has to do with 5/7 jars having less
gypsum. Those dots on the top are definitely growing,
Seeing oh so very slight growth along the sides on those same
2.
Not much from the other 5.

Expect wildly varying results until you start working with isolates.

Currently 5/7 jars are showing. One of those 5 is showing very little. Two aren't showing any sign.
A couple of the jars are growing pretty heavily on the top, but not going down very much. Should I leave it alone if it start moving down?
