My favorite Jimi. He may have been just another guitarist, but the songs that I consider my favorites often include his work, and mylife would be very different if he had never made them.

Jimi and SRV wouldn't have done what they did without Albert King. Why the fuck does no one like Albert King

old and new and an "origin" are concepts that confuse the ever living fuck out of people, i'd assume is the reason.
PS: just look at King's stance in comparison's to SRV's stance on guitar. you can tell the world of difference right there.

Meh. He's clearly a great player, but nowhere near the level of soul and power in his playing.

how in the hell do you determine "soul and power levels" from not knowing an artist at all?
seems like ass talk.
"clearly a great player" means, he's a great player. there is nothing more to it then that. Jimi was a great player. he wasn't some special guitar God. sorry, it's just plain truth. i can keep posting more guitarists and pretty well every single guitarist from BB King to Nels Cline will be said to have "less then what Jimi had" because lets face it... people love Jimi's cock, and other players cock. can't be objective.
but that's what makes this fun, anyways... well, funny is fun...

jesus dude, you really are the most negative person in the world. he did a hell of alot more than "popularize the wah pedal". he created a whole new style of playing. he was an innovator. thats what people dont understand. I always hear people say "why the fuck does everyone think jimi hendrix was the best guitar player ever?". people dont get it. when people say he was the best they don't mean he was the best technical player, they mean he was the most innovative, soulful, and creative. and he did alot of acid

that makes no sense. try to defend your idol, with more of a "sense making" kinda statement.
how can it not be possible to influence people with music, (that by has been being released post-humonously for decades now) when you have music that still released, even when you're dead, and when his music is still stipulated as being the "best of the best of what the era or FOREVER had to offer blah blah blah you hear it so much"; how is it not possible to have influenced people with that 40 years after his death? how?
he was talking about slobbering on sVs's knob...

I completely disagree. There's a hell of a lot more to making someone great in my eyes than just their technical proficiency. How do you measure "soul and power"? Everyone has a different metric, but 95% of people agree that Jimi and SRV had "it". There's a reason they made it. Of course some of it was dumb luck, as is every great success in this world, but a lot of it is on the back of hard work and an undefinable characteristic I'm referring to as "soul" and "charisma".

no, he wasn't all that. he was some of that.
that's why sVs isn't being negative and you're projecting. he's just being honest, actually; and trust me, i'm not just arbitrarily defending him neither... you're literally just missing his point, and are confused and/or projecting your insecurities onto him.
Cream came before Hendrix so all that innovator stuff just is ... plain wrong. there was more then just that too, look at Blue Cheer for example. heavy, psychedelic rock like Hendrix.
the only thing that Jimi Hendrix "did first before anybody" was popularize studio production effects as some sort of gimmick. i mean, great idea, but that hardly is any sort "major leap" for anybody. i'm sure producers had probably been trying to get people to use their new effects from the get go, and probably alot of "purists" wanted to say no, and some innovators SUCH AS Jimi, or The Beatles, decided "hey, i'm not gonna be a pussy, lets try the new effect and shit".
but really, that was more of a collaborative effort. i mean, did Jimi Hendrix MAKE his own effects?
i don't think so.
