Its been a year since my last tub. But here we are again. Doing B+ this time.
There are some things I did better this time, like the liner. I ended up using 2 bags for each tub last time but amazingly I got 1 bag into this tub with a little cutting. Kind of proud of that haha.

Pasturized Poo Ready to go. I think one of the bags got cooked a bit too much.
Last time people complained I shouldn't have had seed exposed on the surface so I made sure this time to cover it up. Spawned
I made dam sure this time that the sub was literally almost following out of the vent holes.
While everything has gone ok so far. I'm not feeling too confident on this go. Some of the spawn was looking a bit dry and stressed (myc piss forming in the area where the spawn pulled away from the jar) from having been in the fridge. I'm also not sure what happened or if I somehow forgot to let this jar just colonize all the way, but I ended up pulling out one jar and discovering it was claimed by some nasty botulism (its wet in the uncolonized area).
The ironic bit is that this side of the jar was turned away from me when ever I opened the fridge so for the 1-2 months the jars were in there, I never noticed that this jar had gone bad. I still swear every jar was 100% when I stuck them in. Besides this jar, I had 1 other jar I didn't use because it smelled sweet, maybe like honey and shrooms, when I opened it up.
All in all, I've got nearly 4-5 inches of substrate but only 4qts of spawn in there. So I'm figuring it'll take at least 2 weeks to colonize, assuming I don't got any contams *fingers crossed*.

That tape is going to be a pain to get off when you fruit that tub. I don't trim the garbage bag when I am colonizing my tubs, I just tape it higher up and cut it when it's fully colonized. When the sub pulls away from the tub, you'll want the bag to be able to go with it.
Also looks like you have a lot of holes in that tub. What tek did you follow and how big of a tub is that? 1 hole on each short side, and two holes on each long side would probably work better.
Depending on the size of your tub, you might want to use more than 4 quarts.
I don't worry about having grains on the top. I evenly mix the grains around the tub and they're perfectly happy with that.

Tub is 74cm x 40cm x 34cm. Its not a perfect rectangular tub though, its more trapazoidal.
I've done the tape like that before and never had too much trouble. If I need fewer holes due to the sub drying out when I fruit. I can just seal some up. Better to have too many than too few.
Generally I would use 6-8 quarts but I somehow forgot I only made 6qt (2 were contam'ed) and I had already started pastuerizing something like 19qts of poo. The seed is really small though, so I'm hoping that because I mixed it up well, that there will be more general area for the myc to grow from than if I was simply using a large seed.
