Pan. Cinctulus To pick or not
    #18777292 - 08/30/13 01:14 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

I found (again) what I believe to be pan. Cinctulus growing in my yard. They are tiny little things. My question is should I pick them now or let them grow another day. Sorry total noob

If the caps are open and you can see the gill color, take pics and post them so a Trusted Identifier can figure out if your guess is correct.

I took pics but like I said they are tiny and only way to look at gills is if I pick them. They are growing near the same spot as where I found the others which were positively ID as pan. Cinctulus via these forums.

Cincts and foes will grow together, I think what you have is a foe.

You need a good bit of mushroom for Pan Cincts. to really work well.  Apparently mjshroomer says they have the same dosing as cubes, but I find them slightly weaker (or my patch at least).

I'd leave it alone, maybe take one (if there's multiple) and get a spore print, or just watch their spore drops.
Cincts will be jet black
Foes will be brown.

Maybe keep watering if it's on your lawn and turns out to be Cinctulus.

I would agree with you that these are a panaeolus species. The first pic looks like the zonates have almost disappeared due to sun drying and on the second picture they are much more visible. I doubt they will grow much bigger as pan sp. are typically small. I suggest picking one (the one that convinces you the most) and spore printing it.
Don't really see them being anything else other than pan. foenisecii or pan. cinctulus, wait for a TI to confirm that though.

Jet black spore prints are what you're looking for.
