Velvety mushroom with black ring
    #18776709 - 08/30/13 10:09 AM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Habitat:
Growing on overflow bank of small creek.

Gills:
Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.

Cap:
3/4" diameter, velvety surface, irregular edge.

Spore print color:
did not pick

Bruising:
black ring on stipe

This one was cool because it looked to have ridges on the cap like a thumb print.

The first one is a Lacrymaria, perhaps Lacrymaria lacrymabunda or a different Lacrymaria species.  Should have bumpy spores.

It is hard to see the gills in mushroom 2, but could it be Bolbitius coprophilus?

Nice photos, however the gills on the Lacrymaria are a bit dark.  I suggest using reflectors, maybe just white paper just outside of the frame to reflect some light on to the upper stem and gills.

To get the depth of field that you need for shots like this you need to close your aperture more, perhaps with the Av mode.

Looks a lot like this one that I found last month:  http://mushroomobserver.org/141357

I have the dried material, would be interesting to compare with less shaggy Lacrymarias.

These gills are more chocolate in color, I went back out and picked them. Spore color in process.

Sounds consistent with Lacrymaria.
