Hottest pepper in the world!
    #18773407 - 08/29/13 02:35 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

It's not the Dorset Naga. These guys are nearly double the heat. If you have not heard, these are the Trinidad Scorpion Moruga Peppers

No messing around here. These are relentless.

chocolate dipped "strawberries"

the hot sauce i made had mango and sweet peppers and was delicious and insanely sweet for about 15 to 20 seconds before the burning of hell took over

They average out at about 1 million and a quarter SHU, but they can reach 2 million.

@allseeingike  They are nearly double the naga jolokia in terms of heat.

I think hot peppers give a lot of people an endorphin rush that they come to enjoy despite the heat. It's kind of like skydiving for your mouth. And many of them would probably agree that behind the heat there's a great flavor. I like to make chili that so hot that you want to stop eating but you can't because it's so good. It's a bit of a mindfuck, but you usually adapt towards the end of the pot. There's definitely a tolerance with capsaicin.

Its the Trinidad Scorpion that was tested at 1,463,700 SHU
The Trinidad Scorpion Moruga Blend is reported as up to 2 million+
I get a little suspicious with these numbers, that would make it over 14% capsaicin/dihydrocapsaicin on the fresh weight basis (both of those pure chems are 14 million SHU). I wouldnt doubt that content for the fresh placental tissue but for a fresh pepper overall thats on the edge of believability.

My trouble with these types is preparing them, specifically choking on the chilli air when chopping or blending.
Tip for blending them: regular mouth mason jars will screw on to most blenders. Blending up 3/4 pint in a pint jar or 3/4 quart in a quart jar makes far less chilli gas/pepper spray than using the two quart blender top  Give them a minute or three to settle before opening.

I like them for the endorphin rush and the sheer intensity of experience. I have trouble tasting them when above 100,000 SHU but some super-hots and mega-hots have a great odor!

I recently grinded trinidad scorpions to a powder. Use it all the time. Its awesome and a little goes a long way.

And last week I sowed 25+ moruga blend seeds. I gotta get me some more seeds though. I love these peppers. They rock. :onfire:

They taste citrusy at first so enjoy it. Then its pure pain. Man my mouth is watering.:drooling:

Awesome job WWS. :super:

My superhot peppers have been ravaged by pests, but I finally got rid of them and noticed a decent sized, fully ripe pepper on my bhut jolokia. I almost want to eat it, but I know it would just be instant regret, followed by even more regret ~8 hours later.

Your plants look great, WSS! It seems like every time you post, I always end up with an urge to go seed shopping on your site :mad2: Guess I'll be buying more peppers soon!

"Black scorpion tongue" -chili species what seems similar.

Color of them caused by cold nights. This is common in there north and happens to every chili in my climate. Indoors at warm these chili peppers are yellow before maturing.

Plant and chili peppers

Flower

Yellow color facing to east where first morning sun shines

Many chili peppers are like this

There is three plants growing in small pots cause lack of space and possible I take it to indoors to get seeds and plant them to big pot after dormancy.

I have also few another chili peppers. Only problem was that I realize chili plants has started to produce fruits and flowers after dark nights have come and now there has been frosts so need to use heater at night to get good harvest of chili pepper and then dry and grind them to powder.

I love chili in certain types of food what is not common up there. Many people hate burning effect of chili's and not used to spicy food.. :headbang:

I just collect seeds and there is 3 different chili strains in big pots and small pots.. Last winter spider mite infestation was so dramatic that I had to kill few years old chili plants what has been dormant winter and growing at summer.

I just keep the plants/seeds what are strong enough to fight back against cold climate cause I am growing these northern than arctic circle.

These hot ones isn't annual chili but they are not so cold tolerant than few chili strain I have.

Plants with small size or poor harvest I discard plants and don't pick the chili to collect seeds. I keep seeds only from strong good procuding plants if I need to start from seed like these has germinated at spring, problem is 24hour sunlight seems to effect chili plants and delay blooming properly so I have to use heater for nights cause there is frosts but dark time at night now. I get few weeks more time before comes serious frosts.:yesnod:

Let's see does now these have cross pollinated and I get to grow chili plants various forms.. I may start a species crossing project by cross pollinating chili plants.

The small pot where is 3 plants has just come randomly from seeds I have took inside chili. I save only that what has flowered and make chili to grow fast than anothers and kill two from there. I sometimes choose plants like that and trying to find good harvest amount with cold tolerance and anything.

I have "Mexican Cluster" named species there, and then this "Black Scorpion Tongue" and one strain more but I forgot the species of it.. There are hard to find hot and fresh chili or dried chili powder so it's have to grow on it's own.

btw.. if I understand do you ask do I sell seeds from these plants. Write PM so we can talk. I harvest them soon.
Chili plants forms "normal" chili shape take also purple color but they need more colder before that happens. Black scorpion tongue strain goes easily two colored or totally violet black in my greenhouse every year. Indoors at constant hot temperature they are yellow first, not violet.
