Pressure cooker drama.....HELP!
    #18775290 - 08/29/13 09:42 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Ok, so I used my pressure cooker as a steamer for tamales :bored: Whats the harm right :datass:

Well im looking at the bottom and its ALMOST out of water. Its VERY low, Im wondering if this might of hurt my pressure cooker. I have an AA 921. The booklet says if you are pressure cooking and you ever run out of water, DONT use it again. But all I did was put tin foil over the top instead of the lid.

Think my pressure cooker is safe?

Well since running a steaming pot dry will hurt it, I'm going to go out on a limb and say yes, it can damage the pressure cooker even without pressure.

Have no idea how accurate that is though.

just do more drugs first and then decide if you want to use it again.  the answer will come to you in a moment of clarity

Almost out of water does not mean out of water.

Dude your fine.

Plus even if it does run dry I would still run it. It won't explode over that kind of thing. Worst is that it warped and won't hold a perfect seal so it will leak ect.... The safety release vavle plug thingy is there for a reason.

i have to agree with fee on this.

the reason they say that is because the inside temps will super heat (like a motor after it has been turned off) comprimising the integrity of the pot.

but you didnt run out of water.

so whats the issue?

I dont know. Part of me is paranoid it MIGHT have ran out of water. I mean.....when I got home I could hear bubbling inside it. And I added a cup of water too during the cooking (when I added water a bunch of steam didnt go everywhere nor did a loud hissing sound of water touching scalding hot metal start). Its just when I took the tin foil off to let them cool, by the time they cooled there was LESS than a cup of water left in the bottom. Part of me is just paranoid that it ran out of water before I added in a cup (even though evidence says otherwise)

Just paranoid man, Death by pressure cooker sounds intense

Another thing....the bottom rack is black which is why I thought maybe it was evidence :stokebeard: does the bottom rack normally blacken over time?
