Liquid Culture Issue

First here is what I did
I have two Liquid Cultures using 100% Pure Clover Honey with no additives. One 1/2 Pint Jar has 1 tsp of Honey to 200 ML of water One 1/2 Pint Jar has 2 tsp of honey to 200ml water.
I pressure cooked both jars for 15 minutes. I allowed to cool for 10 hours.
It's been nearly 2 weeks since I injected the jars with cubensis spores. I see some floaties in my jars. IE a couple of black spots with white clouds around them. Did I do something wrong or do I have to wait longer?
P.S> I keep the jars in a dark area and the temperature in my house varies from 73-78 any given day.

the black spots could be spores but pics would be good. its really hard to tell if you have a contamination in LC untill you actually test it out.

If they have little clouds then there's probably a little mycelium starting to grow but you will never know if it's clean until you shoot up a test jar as kinkaku stated. LC's do have their uses but honestly I would suggest looking into agar because you can actually see the contams if they're there. It's much more rewarding in my opinion and a lot less risk for beginners because if your LC is conataminted you're back to square one.

Agar is done on Petri Dishes right? I am not fully familiar with that however I am very interested in learning. I understand this is how you clone species of mushrooms? What is a good Agar recipe or Technique I can use? I'll post pictures soon of the jars.

Yes and yes and you can also transfer away from contams if they do show up. Use the search bar to search for agar recipes/teks.

You don't even need petris! Look up Doc's no-pour agar. You can do it in half pints or even quarter pints, and if you do it like that you can skip the pouring step (which isn't difficult, but makes agar even more accessible to new growers).

How much more difficult is it taking an isolate from a jar though? This tek appealed to me because at the time I could get jars cheaper than dishes. I have since found a good source for inexpensive dishes but on the other hand, jars are reusable.

Good to know. I always thought agar was difficult and haven't looked into it much, but I'll have to do some research. Thanks!
