Kids aren't able to think of the long term consequences like an adult can. My son has repeatedly proven this point.

Kids are impulsive and everything is in the moment, there is rarely consideration of what could happen, and how could a 14 year old really know of the long term consequences of sex?

at 14 I was capable of making these sorts of decisions, I'm teaching my
kids to do the same, just as I was taught.

Doesn't matter if "she was okay with it" because most of them are incapable of thinking in the long term. Myself included. I'm still paying for the mistakes I made when I was an impulsive teen.

maybe it's not the schools that are dumbing down the kids today but it's
the parents and their quest to keep the nest from being empty

Statutory rape

Quote:

...In statutory rape, overt force or threat need not be present. The laws presume coercion, because a minor or mentally challenged adult is legally incapable of giving consent to the act.

The term "statutory rape" generally refers to sex between an adult and a sexually mature minor past the age of puberty...

...Laws vary in their definitions of statutory rape. It is generally intended to punish heinous cases of an adult taking sexual advantage of a minor. Thus, many jurisdictions prohibit allowing a juvenile to be tried as an adult under this law (most jurisdictions have separate provisions for child molestation or forcible rape which can be applied to juveniles and for which a minor can be tried as an adult).

Why are minors held accountable for violent criminal acts?  Stealing?  Disobeying authority figures?  Drug use?

Why are they legally able to consent to these acts, and suffer the ramifications for their behavior?

really? what about with murder, suddenly it's OK to put them on trial as
adults because they should have known better but when it comes to sex or
stealing, they didnt.... when a 14yo shoplifts, that kid gets the year of
probation that an adult would get, they simply get it in a juvenile court

Yes that must be it..

Never mind the fact that I've repeatedly talked to my son about his actions and consequences and that he still doesn't get it.. Must be my parenting, and it must've been the parenting I received that led to me making stupid life altering choices because "it seemed like a good idea at the time" that as an adult I look back on and think "what the fuck was I thinking? How could I have been so stupid?".

I don't know any kids getting a year probation for shoplifting that's pretty fucked up most just have to right an essay and do some community service, but that's besides the point. Even as you say with murder there is considerations for minor suspects, they can't get the death penalty for instance. I mean I'm not an expert but I feel like you're comparing apples to oranges anyway.

How would you feel about a 50 year old dude fucking your 14 year old daughter? Gonna invite him over for tea and shit while she sits on his lap and nibbles his ear?

Inb4 the "my daughter wouldn't do that" avoidance..

LOL at qman and pris. This isn't about murder, it's about a 50 year old teacher having sex with a 14 year old girl, more than once.

" Would you feel this way if your 14 year daughter or son was repeatedly having sex with a 50 year old teacher?"
