Pine straw clump/moss, mycelium/pins?
    #18772373 - 08/29/13 10:20 AM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Pine straw/moss clump in oregon dunes.  Tramped around a bit about a week ago at an atv park I hadn't yet scoped...  Pretty dry and not much to see, looks like prime matsi habitat and easy to access, just nice open floor with pines.  I was rooting a bit in the moss and noticed what looks like mycelium on a moss clump so I fetched it home for closer examination.  Put it in a container with some water to see if I could get some action but it doesn't appear to have done anything...

Any id on the little pins or the moss/lichen?

"Shrub, 30-90 cm. Leaves 2.5-) 4-9 cm, sessile or amplexicaul, broadly ovate to ovate-oblong, obtuse or rounded to subapiculate or subacute, when crushed not smelling of goats."

"The initial quake was a 6.6 but fairly shallow. I felt it as a prolonged up and down vibration followed by a jolt forward and then to the left, like square dancing."

All I can say is that those aren't pins, but some sort of lower fungi, I really don't know anything about those.

Thanks!  That's exactly what I was wondering...
