It seems to me we're switching out one for the other. Anyone else notice this?
How the war on terror is heating up: -NSA -Checkpoints near borders -DHS -TSA
How the war on drugs on waning: -Medical marijuana in 20 states and the nation's capital -States and cities with decriminalized marijuana -Obama’s Drug Plan: Fewer Arrests, More Treatment: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/04/obamas-drug-plan-fewer-arrests-more-treatment/

You're making connections where there are none. The DEA has nothing to do with the military. The "War" on drugs has no connections to real soldiers. Also, what makes you say the war on terror is getting worse? We've already eliminated a large number of members of terrorist groups.
(inb4 someone calls Obama the drone king - having soldiers on the ground is NO better and what the American public wanted was "our troops out of the middle east" - so that's what we got. No one cared about possible innocents being killed there until they realized it was something they could attack Obama about. Also less innocent civilians and children have been killed by drones during Obama's admin than in Bush's. Do some research! )

I think you need to think about what you write. First, I said nothing about Obama, so I am not quite sure how you made that one up.
Second, I never said there was any connection between the DEA and the military.
You must have not gotten enough sleep last night.
Also, the War on Terror is definitely getting worse.

Did you see that I said "inb4" and put it under a spoiler tag? Maybe you're not familiar with the internet but "inb4" means I anticipate someone will bring up that subject, so I addressed it before it was brought up.
You said we're switching the "war" on drugs in favor of the war on terror, which attempts to link the military and the DEA as if we're transitioning resources from a metaphorical "war" to an actual ground operation in another area of the world.
I got plenty of sleep, just because your attempt to draw a connection where there isn't one doesn't hold water doesn't mean that I need to think more about what I wrote.

Op has a point joie. And you're failing to grasp it.
the people who wage the war on drugs
are the same people which wage war with
other countries.
Op, it seems like we (the us) have to be having an altercation with someone to assert our alpha male dominance. god forbid we leave anyone alone.

The people who wage the war on drugs are not the same people who wage war with other countries, that's a huge oversimplification that considers "the government" to be a huge umbrella of people all collaborating with each other when the truth is that the drug administration policy has very little to do with what is going on overseas.
I don't agree with everything we do in the middle east, but I hardly think that getting rid of people who genuinely make it their life goal to spread terror and harm other is an attempt to assert "alpha male dominance". Intervening in other countries to help people whose lives are being infringed upon daily is more of a caring role, IMO. I mean there are little girls who are shot in the head for trying to go to school over there, so I hardly think that getting rid of the people who do that is "alpha male" nor should we leave those people alone and continue to allow them to terrorize innocent civilians. That's just in theory though, the way we go about these things doesn't necessarily reflect that at all and our interest in the middle east is hardly humanitarian (plus there's the fact that a lot of the time our own soldiers are killing civilians too - which brings into question who is really the terrorist here, but the whole situation is incredibly complex of course).

SO what? No one is saying they are dropping bombs on drug users. Its a metaphorical statement and one that is easy to grasp. OP has a point but not sure and they are probably not related but the status quo is a system of control so its not surprising that when one part of the system starts to fail another is made to become stronger.

I believe Obama will start to engage in this new plan when his AHA is put into law. Is Obama behind the dispensary raids or is it Holder?
