Ok so I have come up with what I believe to be a good all around soil mix for the cacti im about to start. Im wondering if this mix will work for all the different species I plan on growingOr should I create a specific mix for each one based on their nute requirements. Id like to put multiple species in the same planter if the mix is acceptable.
Soil Mix(In parts) 3 Perilite 2 Coarse Sand 2 Pumice (Crushed red Lava Rocks) 1 Vermiculite 1 Oil Absorbent .5 Nutrient Mix
Nutrient Mix (in parts) 2 Crushed Limestone 1 Green Sand 1 Soft Rock Phosphate 1 Fish Meal
Now as to the cacti im growing, heres a list of the ones im for sure going to do. Aside from alkaline cacti, Im also after exotic, crazy looking cacti, so if you know of one thats not on the list, please let me know.
Trichocereus Bridgesii Trichocereus Pachanoi (San Pedro) Trichocereus Peruvianus (Torch) Lophophora Williamsii (Peyote) Lophophora Williamsii v Caespitosa Lophophora Diffusa Ariocarpus (Living Rock} Saguaro
Been researching here and a few other places for over a week now. Im hoping that my knowledge has been accurate. Never hurts to have someone double check you though. Thanks for your time guys and gals.

Sounds pretty solid as a mineral mix for Lophs, Astrophytum, Ariocarpus, etc. though you may want to eliminate the vermiculite as it tends to hold moisture quite well.
For Trichs you should add some compost or loam to the mix to have a soil component but this is up to you.

You found many materials!!Thats great! I would use a lot more limestones on lophophoras and for Trichocereus u can leave the limestones out! Also you can have more organic material in the mix.
Is a great pdf modern shaman post somewhere (i dont remember where) the title is ''The stone eaters'', great info for soil mixes for cactus!! And i dont know how i can upload pdf..

That depends on the cacti too. If they have tap root they want deep pots, if not you can have more wide than deep!
