Monotub colonization question
    #18768313 - 08/28/13 12:50 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

So I'm colonizing my first monotub and didn't use liners. The top of my monotub is almost fully colonized but the sides and bottom have a ways to go.

My question is how do people with liners know that the monotub is fully colonized? If I were to go by the top layer, I would put my mono in fruiting conditions at 50-60% colonization.

Just a thought I had while checking on my monotub this morning.

This means you should be mixing the grains into the substrate more evenly.

If they were mixed evenly, it would most likely colonize evenly.

Since you can see it, wait until full visual colonization.

I fruit my substrates when the surface hits 100%, and I can only remember 1 or 2 tubs that actually had an uncolonized spot underneath the liner.

And that's out of like 50+ tubs.

Huh, I figured I mixed equally enough. I guess it wasn't. Hurray for learning!
