Question about petri temp swings and condensation

Ive heard that its a good idea to store colonized petri dishes in an insulated lunchbox and in the refrigerator, but wat about petri dishes that are still in the process of incubation and thus are kept outside the fridge at room temp, is it a good idea to also keep those ones stored in an insulated lunchbox as well?

temp swings are the main cause of condensation inside dishes. your dishes can be wrapped to cut down on contaminants with a breathable material, micropore tape or glad wrap, or a non breathable material, electrical tape. the growth cycle of dishes is short enough that it's not a huge difference.
by making sure the agar temp is cool enough when you pour you will cut down on initial temp swings and condensation cause from it. by stacking the dishes, then putting the sleeve back over them and putting a cup of hot tap water on top of the stack for the cooldown period you will cut down on more condensation. by not moving the dishes to different areas/temps during colonization you will cut down on even more condensation.
by doing the above things, i have zero problems with my dishes.
