Oh sorry I should probably remind you of the storm trooper like police presence that has been introduced to melbourne over the past few years. not one night life hot spot is seen without some kind of storm trooper esque police set up with cops in full protective gear booking people for dumb shit like j walking and holding a beer in public, intimidating everyone in their path.
public crackdowns on "j walking" where $160 fines are issed for crossing the fucking street even when there are NO CARS
or like the time this happened to me and I was accosted by 6 cops in full protective gear and it took all 6 of them to book me for corssing the road
when i was laughing at them saying "guys do you realise how ridiculous this looks" they told me if i didnt shutup they'd lock me up i got fined 160$ for crossing the road
or the road blocks every other day of the week on all major roads drug testing and if they dont get you for drink driiving they'll book you for an exhaust pipe or tinted windows or anything else they can pull
not to mention if you are under 21 you can't have any passengers in your car after curfew hours
guy I used to live with, 30 year old professional in real estate, was parked in a no standing zone, was maced at point blank range IN HIS CAR by a bored traffic cop who was trying to pick a fight with him. currently in the courts.
this place is afucking prizon
fuc the list goes on

the reason it's the most livable city is because of a few shitty reasons:
during cruise ship season, we get millions of rich fat uppity bullshit tourists people that blow through the city and spend millions of dollars and probably spend no more than a few hours here at best
the rest being based on asian markets have realised the placid market and lifeftyle and taken advantage of it to supersoak it in asian students and their families
if you come to melbourne, you might as well go to hong kong
the increasingly militarised police presence in the CBD and surrounding suburbs is definitely noticeable
it is not a fun place to be
and if you can get away without being done for drink driving
you'll get a red light ticket 3 years later from a detector that was probably found out to be deficient but they thought they could pull the wool over your eyes anyway because they needed the revenue

sounds like an all around terrible place
thank god i live in america
i was hitchhiking the other day and i met this guy from ireland whose idea was to come to america and backpack it, being the patriot that i am, i go: "you made the right choice to come here, america is the best country in the world!"
this reallllly got him butthurt, we were both in the car with some old red neck lady who didn't move her trap, he goes, "so what countries have you been to", i say, "none", "so then how would you know what country is the best", "well cus its the land of the free", "blah blah" it went on like this while i was troll facing him, he ended up giving me some smokes in the end so it was all good
lul stupid foreigners

Melbourne? I'm going to have to check that place out. The Aussies might have a good thing going Down Under and we might have missed out. I would have thought somewhere in New Zealand or Monte Carlo or Rome would have made that list.
Whole thing sounds sketchy. Three cold-assed Canadian dirtbergs in the Top 10 and places like Nice and Lisbon don't even show up?

Probably, I would have thought that NY, Monaco, Dubai would have made the list. Toronto? I did not expect that at all. Ottawa would have made the list if it weren't the most boring city on the planet.

There is a fine here for pissing outside, which is 20€, but it's really not that enforced unless you're peeing on shop windows etc.
For littering.. Meh
It is clean here in Helsinki tho, and what I love the most, the nature around the city. I have a huge forest right on my backyard, lots of parks and places to go hike/swim/trip etc. And I live app. 10km from the center of Hki.
The nature is even better in other cities around here but I'd never want to leave Helsinki, I love this city

vancouver may be a bit drug riddled in certain parts, but that hardly is a valid detraction.

It really isn't all that cold in Toronto or Vancouver. Vancouver's winters are slightly milder than NYC's and TO's are a little colder.

Now that I think about it, why isn't Quebec city on the map? That city is fucking awesome, it's got everything including a kick ass mayor, awesome music festival, comedy, wonderful sights, history, etc.
Oh wait it's in Quebec... That voids everything
