Other than the mushroom cultivator do you guys recommend any other books on mycology?

I have never read a book on mushroom cultivation, only things on this forum, and I feel like I could improve my grows that much more with some good literature. Are there any books you'd recommend over stamets, or is it still the #1? I always hear about how so much has changed since then so I feel like it's filled with misinformation and may do no good to read it, even confuse an experienced grower you know?

in general mushroom cult knowledge has years arround and havnt been much improved...
its even hard to get people to undestand that cold shock is not for tropical cubensis.
For the OP i would suggest reading all you can on mycology, not just mushroom cult, so you can really undestand what is a fungus and what are its needs.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=is_box_?k=mushrooms+of+north+America It's copyrighted 2010. That's for identification purposes. Also has some good information on what different species likes. it may not be cultivation bit it is an important part of mycology I think.

I have this one and I honestly wouldn't recommend it. There's alot of old/outdated info so you really have to pick through it and figure out what info is still good and what is outdated.

I'd say Stamets is still #1 in literature, but Shroomery is by far the best place to get info.

Stamets is required reading for all mycologists.
TMC - The Mushroom Cultivator MR - Mycelium Running PMOTW - Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World
These are the texts that you should start from.

Well thanks guys, I'm still not sure whether I should read a book or just stick to the shroomery . I am interested in mycology in general as well as identifying and growing edible, wild, and medicinal mushrooms however. This morning I was walking through the park and found myself deathly hungry for food. For about a mile I kept looking on the ground/sidewalk for change when I eventually I noticed mushrooms all around the place on grassy slopes. You could easily see the variation in where they grow due to the moisture content and surrounding vegetation, light conditions, etc.
The only one I think I could have identified as edible though appeared to be a bolite, I tried a small bit of it to check the taste and mouth feel, but being uncertain was scared to eat much at all. I rubbed it all over my hands though as they were very dirty and it actually did a really good job of cleaning them, slightly acidic feeling however and after awhile of squeezing them it even started to pull blood out of my pores in a small section (possibly a cut/abbrasion from yard work) so for that reason I was scared to eat more than a tiny nibble; I felt like a bug and can understand why there's tiny nibbles all over our outdoor patches now . I can picture them going 'hmm.. maybe this one... ehh.. I dunno.. yuck... maybe this one...'

Mycelium Running is quite informative. I was impressed how much work he put into that book.
