New home on wetlands, Wisconsin
    #18764967 - 08/27/13 05:15 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

We bought an new home with some waterfront wet lands on the Milwaukee river. My question is.. Is there some cool entheogenic stuff i can look for, or is there some thing i can plant that will do well in these type of conditions? And when should i plant them, any help is appriciated ...and much love for these forms!

Thank You!

I honestly thought the title was "New home by welltards - Wisconsin". :lolsy:

To answer your question, yes there is plenty of stuff out there. I'm not educated enough to give specifics but I've spent time with people who work with plants for a living and as far as yes/no is concerned, it's a definite "yes".

I just don't know any good plants in particular to recommend you, sorry about that

Right off the top of my head, acorus calamus aka sweet flag likes the boggy wet conditions. Also lotuses, lilies, mushrooms of course!. Also just read black henbane thrives in wet conditions.

As for the guys surviving the cold winters, that is another issue.

Op- you gotta do your own research dude.  This forum is not big enough for it to be probable that someone else lives in wisconsin near some wetlands.  Im sure there are many ethnos and other plants that are unique to the area though.  If you get really into aquatic plants then you can start an aquatic garden in your yard.

Dude! Lay off of people and the google search bit! If you don't have anything to add don't say anything at all. These forums are HUGE and i'm sure plenty of people live in the same conditions.

OP- while he IS right and google with help you tons, this is what the forums are for. Ignore the haters and just be patient, someone willing to help is always here.

This forum is tiny.  There are only a few dozen regular posters.  The original question would probably be better off in the Outdoors forum rather than this one.

If I lived in a swampy area I would want to grow some carnivorous plants outside. Sarracenia purpurea can survive some very cold winters.

You should do it.  Just get an old bathtub or a kiddie pool.  Kiddie pools are like $10.  Be aware that some carnivorous plants cannot handle tap water.

But thats what forums are for,  alot of time when i search for things it brings me right back here. i thought the question was specific enough to ask here. My bad if it was not.

I've tried growing S. purpurea before and would like to give it a shot again. I have a Nepenthes plant that I got last summer that I've had better luck with.

First on Google search of "Northeastern United States wetland plants" http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/resource/plants/florane/

Edit: My bad.  I just realized that you are asking about drug plants.  Ethnobotanials are any plants that have a place in human culture.  I think you were confused because for some reason "The Ethnobotanical Garden" is under the category "Mushrooms, Mycology, and Psychedelics" when it should just be under "General Interest."  If I am right about this then your first question is a legitimate one that would be appropriate to ask in here.  The word you were looking for is "entheogenic", as in "My question is.. are there some cool entheogenic plants that I can look for..."

*entheogenic:goodmorning:

Op is suitable here too. Just a shame I know more about Mars than I do about Wisconsin, otherwise I'd have something useful to add.
