I really need to learn my trees! I find out a lot of the tree types after getting the name and looking it up. I cant seem to recognize hardwoods unless their leaves have fallen. i think it was on a softwood since I found it on a farm where they cut down tons of them and left them lie. Had they been hardwood maybe they would have used them for wood. I dunno. I might put it on observer too. depends on if anyone takes enough interest. for me. just another one of the thousands of little white things I find in the woods lol.
