what kind of Pluteus?

habitat: growing singular beside or on fallen dead tree. I cant remember because i had no camera with me, It was raining being the reason I left it behind (cam).
cap: When I found them they were silver and grey. It was raining so I didnt have my camera. In the first pictures they look brown this was due to a warm filter I had on the camera. I fixed this later but the mushrooms had already began drying.
gills: not attached to stem, white
stem: less than an inch, white, curling to cap

I see this one in N. Illinois quite a bit. I bet Peck or Murrill had a name for it.

the last pics are after they dried a bit. The color was grey to begin with and now its so grey it fingerprinted me lol. The smell is somewhat pungent but not distinctive.

Also note that in the same place i found them I found some that were old and instead of dry they were inky. wet black stunk real bad. I thought I should bring one back but didnt because of the smell and it was falling apart.

There are a lot of little brown Pluteus that kind of look like that, without microscopy, an expert and/or good literature i don't think there is much chance of identifying it. If you really want to identify them, then dry them and post them on mushroom observer. Then when cracker dry label them with the genus, habitat, location, date, and MO observation number until microscopy work can be done. Maybe you can contact Fredo at MO for help with the ID too.

TY Byrain I might just do that. After they finish drying cracker dry I will list the info you said and post them on MO. or contact Fredo.
Its actually not brown though it appears that way. They were silver grey fresh picked and turned dusty flat grey as they began drying. I am going back to that spot tomorrow since it rained here yesterday and tonight. Hoping to get good pics of them before I pick them. I appreciate the help bud.
