I bet you are a puppet account.....

Not that I care. But I bet you are.

Tell me, who do you bet is the puppet master?

I dunno.....

Someone who is a regular here. I will determine this later
by the fungi and local info that they provide. But now I have to get off the computer and hang with my lady.

Thanks for the thread either way.

I guess you are BobZ. I could likely be wrong but I dunno,
bob likes to take close up shots like you. But your shots are more close up. I dunno. I am probably wrong.

I am totally wrong. I am sorry to sound rude but BobZ takes better pictures. You can't be him.

But you are a puppet.

Rog - what do you figger these are?

We've had quite a few of these smoother topped ganodermas or whatever they are and I'm trying to distinguish them from applanatum...

And that brainy lookin' underside is just wild, never seen anything like it.

This is an image of appalantum from Wikimedia commons.

I would call my find G appalantum or something similar.

Gloeophyllum is my guess on genus for the orange one. It's quite small and softish.

Well, perhaps what I've been calling applanatum is not, OR more likely, they ARE just that variable.  All that I've collected here in Oregon are quite bumpy with a lot of color striation...???

Some of those look like Fomitopsis pinicola as well.

Another semi- similar fungus could be Heterobasidion

Yeh, red-belted in the upper right...  I'll check out the Heterobasidion.

Do you have any problem with calling both of ours G. applanatum?

I know most folks don't find the conks so sexy, sorry.  ;-)  But some of these guyz are touted as medicinal and I'd like to be able to correctly id 'em, know if I'm wrong...  I collected a crapload of what I thought were Fomes fomentarius, only to later believe that it's G. applanatum...

I didn't feel badgered. I'm here because this place is a good conduit for learning and enjoying hunting, especially at my novice stage.

Today I had a short but good hunt.

I found a cluster of a dense fleshed mushrooms. I was surprised how heavy these were. The fruit-body seemed to go into a dense root formation. These are certainly good sized and don't smell bad. Does anyone know what they are?

I also found a potential Armillaria-ish-maybe??!?

And sure Armillaria
