ID Request Please

Habitat: Back yard growing about 16 inches from the base of a dead tree (unidentified tree.) Was bark lying in that spot but I picked all of the bark up 2 months ago and the shrooms are growing on grass in a large clump, 50 + shrooms.
Gills: white ish, cream ish color and spaced close together.
Stem: Same coloring as the gills. Maybe ¼ inch thick, I believe it is solid and about 2 ½ to 3 inches long.
Cap: Light brown in color with texture in a radius pattern and about 1/2 - 1 1/2 “wide and convex.
Spore print color: Unknown at this time.
Bruising: Doesn’t seem to change in color when bruised.
General Location: North Central Ohio, Lorain County
Scent: To me it smells similar to a white mushroom that one can buy at the grocery. Woodsy and pleasant.
I would like this identified if possible, is it poisonous or edible?

A. tabescens is indeed edible.  If you're thinking of chowing down, try a small portion first and see how that sits.  Armillarias can cause some people upset.

The type of mushroom they are is in the genus Armillaria species tabescens. Some people call them honey mushrooms if that's what you are wondering.
