How bout getting drunk and cocky in a bar/ nightclub. I think people are much more likely to escalate a situation if they are carrying.

Idiots will be idiots. Just because someone can conceal carry doesn't mean they decide to now walk down the dark alleys every night.

Lets just say I've known some people in my day who would beg to differ with that generalization

wasn't a generalization, just my personal experience. i have seen guns come out at the bar but i didn't know them and i am pretty sure they weren't legally carrying them.

No, but I've seen it make people cocky enough that it was a damn good thing that didn't happen. I get cocky enough from my martial arts training. I don't know what I'd be like if I were carrying a gun and drinking.

i think the problem is being cocky lol, whether or not you have a gun. if you threaten someones life in america there's a good chance your getting shot.

i'm just replying you saying your martial arts training makes you cocky. most people into that know pressure points which are lethal, and if you just started a fight with someone you would be completely liable to be shot although not killed.

.22 is definitely lethal. Shot placement makes the biggest difference anyways. .22 magnum has nearly the same energy as a 9mm but with better trajectory, velocity and good peneteration. Barrel length also makes a big difference to projectile energy.
I would have gone with a .40 and bought a .357 sig barrel as well. .357 sig works with .40 magazines and guns and is a great round, better than .45 acp in my opinion. It has more energy than a .45 acp and you can carry more of them in the same size magazine, better penetration potential too, .357 sig could penetrate higher level body armor or cover than .45 acp.

thanks for your input. this was my first gun though, and i admit i'm pretty ignorant about guns as far as the differences in them. but i feel this is a good weapon for an experienced shooter who grew up around guns. i like that there is no safety non-sense, if i want my guns to not fire then i won't load them.

Yep, unless specified any 22 mag ballistics will be for a rifle barrel. It's only mariginally better than 22lr in a handgun.

Wiccan_Seeker said: .45 ACP has twice the energy of 9mm Parabellum for a similar sized bullet and that translates as much more penetrating power.
I read a PDF (I believe posted by Prisoner) where LEO investigated which bullet was the most lethal under varied circumstances and .45 won it with a landslide over 9mm.
I believe the .22 was right on par with the 9mm in lethality, the data was collected from actual shootings as opposed to ballistic gel lab tests
I'm not disputing the .22 lethality just that there was a collossal energy difference between .45 and 9mm.
Not all .22 aree created equal though, some are solely propelled with just a primer while others are packed to the brim with powder. Obviously that makes a huge difference in effectiveness.

Keeping a pistol clean is very important to it's accuracy, it's been mentioned by marksman though who've been shooting for years they aren't that accurate.
accuracy is in the shooter, even the most accurate gun n the world isnt going to hit dick if the shooter is incompetent, marksmen will tell you that you cant shoot targets at 300-600 yards with a pistol using open sights as well but there's people out there that can. if the sights are off some can take one shot and know how to compensate, others are instinct shooters, they can fire from the hip and hit their target
everything requires practice, self defense shooting, target shooting, home defense, even masturbation takes a little bit and I practice that daily in hopes that I'll become the expert one day

SurReality said: well considering i trust pris more than just about anyone else to know what he's talking about. i went and got the .45 which was my first choice anyway... waiting for pic to upload

I'm not a bit fan of glock but they are good guns and there's a lot of shit out there that can help you tailor the gun for your self and your style of shooting, threaded barrels, compensated barrels/slides, mag wells, extended magazines, a great deal of stuff that many people find useful or just fun
the .45 ACP is a good general duty round that can be bought in a number of configurations, Hornady Critical Defense is a great round for a carry weapon while any standard ball round above 200 grains is great for target practice and still somewhat affordable. some manufacturers do recommend a specific weight range for their guns based on the rifling and the twist rate, you shouldnt have trouble feeding any .45 ammo through it though

the problem with these is there's less availability of ammo especially during times when ammo is already scarce
